I really enjoyed this book. It caught me off-guard. The stories are sometimes touching, often hilarious. I was reading segments aloud to my husband. I definitely recommend it!

Co bych k tomu dodala? Ještě před pár dny jsem chvílemi uvažovala nad pouhou jednou *. Faktem je, že námět je opravdu dobrý, ale podání mi vůbec nevyhovovalo. Střídaly se pasáže, kdy jsem s nechutí sledovala pomalý proces čtení s pasážemi, které jsem hltala a snažila se dozvědět víc. Po prvních stránkách jsem si byla jistá tím, kdo je kdo - aby mi pak vše autorka po třičtvrtě příběhu snaživě vyvracela. A já nakonec zjistila, že moje teorie na začátku byla naprosto správná. Ve výsledku jsem knize dala 3*, i když stále přemýšlím, jestli to není moc nebo málo. No, uvidíme, jak si autorka pohraje s pokračováním ...

This is the sequel to Cuckoo in the Nest, with Elsie from the first book as the protagonist in this one. It follows on from where Cuckoo left off, including many of the same characters, so it was nice to see how they developed. Elsie has a bit of a stuggle to figure out what she wants from life, and how to achieve it - making a few errors along the way.

While my introduction to the creative writing of new-to-me author Laurie Alice Eakes was in the first Midwives novel Lady in the Mist. I knew that I would be excited to read more from her in the future. While I’m uber eager to read the next Midwives novel, Heart's Safe Passage: A Novel, it was a treat to have an interlude with another new series, this one a regency. Her characters are strong and the romance and intrigue are in perfect tandem. Regency novels are one of the time periods that truly grow on me, and this was well done and obviously researched. Laurie knows here stuff.
