I have been a fan of Julia Quinn for a long time. Her romances are full of life and energy. Her heroines have more to commend them than violet eyes or lush curls, although they certainly do have those attributes at times. In TEN THINGS I LOVE ABOUT YOU we meet Annabel Winslow, granddaughter to the Vickers who are determined to see her wed. Lord Vickers is currently entertaining the notion to marry her to one Earl of Newbury who, it seems, was the catch of the season when Annabel's grandmother made her debut. Newbury's last wife is deceased and he has no direct living heir. He has taken an interest in Annabel because she comes from a family known to produce many children. In fact, he rather admires her large hips because he thinks she'll have an easy time giving birth. Enter Sebastian Grey, rogue extraordinare, and nephew to the vile Earl of Newbury. He is determined not to marry (aren't they all?) and he stands to inherit everything if the Earl of Newbury dies with an heir. Annabel and Sebastian meet and become friends. When scandal raises it head, Lord Newbury drops his attendance upon Annabel. But Lord Newbury will stop at nothing to prevent Sebastian from inheriting (think murder and mayhem). The result is a can't put down romantic romp through London, especially when we learn that Annabel's siblings have voted her The Winslow Most Likely to Speak Her Mind AND The Winslow Most Likely To Fall Asleep in Church. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is an easy read yet intriguing, so much so that you'll be convincing yourself (late at night) to read 'just a few more pages'.
