maybe the title is a wee bit dramatic but a fun read. There's a chapter on how to pose for pictures so you don't cringe when your photos are developed after a vacation. Tips on proper underwear to hide those things you want to hide. I couldn't figure out what colors they thought my complexion necessitated however, not enough information for me. easy to pick up and put down.

This book had the potential to be so good. First of all, everyone needs to know this is the first in a new series of books. I was so disappointed at the end, not realizing it was the first in a series, and so thinking that it was the worst ending ever. Anyway, even as the first book in a series, it still had a rather disappointing ending. Very little was resolved. But I guess that leaves it open to at least one more book. Anyway, the book itself was alright. It had an interesting plot, and some neat plot twists that were very unexpected. The incorporation of old pictures was neat, too. On the other hand, every character besides the narrator was rather flat. Hopefully that will change in the future books. This book just reminded me of more reasons I don't generally enjoy YA books. Yes, it was fun, but when I'm looking for just fun I usually turn to movies and t.v. When I'm looking for something to be touching, thoughtful, and interesting then I go to books. This book would make a really fun movie, but for me it was just not as good as it could have been.

I usually find nature writing to be tiresome, but this is a total exception. Leopold weaves philosophy of the importance of land and nature in with descriptions of his natural environment. His ideas about the environment were ahead of his time and still hold their own today.

The idea is that fungi of all kinds are necessary for healthy ecosystems, and that they can process a lot of nasty toxins in the environment. There's a LOT of detail that would only interest a micologist (mushroom head), but the pictures are great and the main idea is very interesting. It's worth skimming through.
