Another emails/diary/memo/letter plot, where the story moves through these modes without any real character development, heavy plot line or vocabulary between characters. But they are easy reads, sometimes it can feel like you've read one you've read them all but I would recommend for travelling as a book to take with you on a long journey/flight etc. Enjoyable, easy, fun.

I found this slice of life story very enjoyable and well written. The background to the story is that a wealthy (extended) family has been approached to sell their company, and provides a view from Alban's perspective of the family leading up to a gathering where it will be decided whether to sell out or not. The story flips back from the past to the present and explains Alban's journey through life, his family encounters, love interests, and his quest to find out about his mother's death and the controversy surrounding his birth.

This book works well with the "Feasting on Asphalt" DVD series. Not only does it have great photographs (taken by one of the other members of the trip) but also has insightful stories and commentary about each section of their journey. Alton writes in his normal witty manner, highlights some of the restaurants and places they stopped, and shares some recipes along the way. Some of the recipes are directly from the people that cooked the meal that Alton and his crew enjoyed and others are Alton's best approximation of the menu items. It's a bargain at its current price and I highly recommend it for any fan of Alton.

Ein erfrischend geschriebenes Buch, das, mit wenigen Ausnahmen, auf jeder Seite Lacher vorweisen kann. Zudem trifft der Autor zum Teil sehr gut die Atmosphäre des Landes, ich wurde beim Lesen oft an eigene Erlebnisse an den jeweiligen Schauplätzen erinnert. Allerdings bin ich froh, dass ich die eigene Namibiareise nicht in einer solchen Reisegruppe erlebt habe und kann das Land uneingeschränkt als Reiseziel empfehlen.
