This is one of the most important books of the 20th Century. It was very influential for me and to an ever growing number of people. Rand's incredible use of logic, plot, characterization, scene setting and more are unsurpassed. The ideas are as timely (and timeless) as when she wrote it in 1957. If you see gross inequalities and irrationality in the world, you need to read this book. If you like the idea of achievement being rewarded and the ideal of a free and prosperous society, you need to read this book. If you can't stand the idea of people taking your hard earned money and freedoms to be given to others who have NOT earned it, you need to read this. If you want the world to be more rational and reasonable, you need to read this book. If you do, you'l be glad you did

I was obsessed with Jaws when it hit theaters in the hot summer of 1975. I was nine years old. That obcession was the only reason I read this book. The movie turned out very different from how it was supposed to be, mostly because the big, mechanical shark failed to work for the majority of the shoot. This meant that director Spielberg had to cut around his monster star and use techniques he'd learned from watching Hitchcock's movies, to ramp up the tension without ever showing the money shot. It was so scary the movie was blamed for poor beach attendance summer vacation of 1975!

the fourth in the series is good. i find that i go too long in between the novels, so i tend to forget many of the details of the characters from previous novels. willig is good about reminding the reader about minor details, but i find it a bit disconcerting. i wish the story of eloise would move along at a faster pace, but i am glad that she finally is together with the brit.

I won this book from Good Reads and the blurb for the book sounded awesome. Sadly, it is not. It seems to be a Master's thesis turned into a story. I was glad to get the information about the Gnostics but the plot was not really necessary for the information. It is always difficult when you have more than one character more than one time saying "good question" to start a paragraph of explanation.
