If you love Lord John and want to know more about him and his life, this book is for you!! The first book in the Lord John series didn't bring us into Lord John's life quite like this one and I drank this book like water, soaking up one of my favorite characters in Gabaldon's books. This book also gives a enlightening glimpse into the life of an English soldier. Wonderful.

I'm currently reading this book because a) I just finished graduate school b) I am on vacation and c) my boyfriend's mother has this whole series on her shelf. The main character is a gutsy, funny lady prone to accidents who decides (well maybe just ends up) pursuing a career as a bounty hunter. But, Bobba Fett she is not. I read half of the book in about 5 seconds and I am thoroughly enjoying its simple charms. It is like cheetos for the brain.

This deeply unsettling dystopian novel follows the story of Todd, a boy about to become a man in a town where everyone can hear everyone’s thoughts in a constant stream of Noise. I don’t really want to relate any more than that, because this book is full of surprising discoveries and once you think you have a handle on how the world works, something new is discovered that complicates things further. The story that unfolds is brutal. It goes down dark and disturbing roads of what it means to be human and then punches the reader in the gut. I was unsettled many times and at one point crumpled up into weeping. While not a happy read, it’s well wrought and beautifully told with subtle and not-so-subtle details of language and style revealing a lot about this world and the people in it. As with a few other readers, my one complaint was the ending, which is a cliffhanger and leaves the reader in the lurch. I felt really let down by it and would have preferred something more solid to rest on at the end. Regardless, I’ll be reading the second book because I really need to know what happens to these characters.

It's always a pleasure to revisit Terry Pratchet, though this particular novel was a bit too young for me. Still, it's a nice quick read good for a laugh and a spell of reflection on the evolution of video games and the state of England during the Gulf war.

This one served double duty as it was referenced in LOST reviews, so I was curious about the connection. I don't feel any smarter after reading it, just more disturbed about the potential of humanity left unchecked.

4.5 Stars I have been looking forward to Hawke and Sienna's story since the beginning of the series. So much so that I made a cardinal sin and started reading this series out of order. Hawke made me swoon with his perfectly orchestrated fierce dominance. Some authors make dominant males seem as though they have something to prove with their actions, as though their dominance is proving to the world how manly they are - but Hawke was a-la-natural. His dominance was a part of his alpha nature and not just a sexual kink, which was so damn sexy! Every time he growled, bit, nipped or chased my heart rate would elevate and I would find myself smiling....and drooling. Sexy, sexy wolf. My heart has also ached for Sienna from the first word. How much would it hurt to be in love with a man and know that he had already given his heart to his one true mate. I admit I was a bit worried about how that would be resolved - but Nalini definitely made me happy with the outcome. There was also the added bonus of Lara and Walkers romance added to the book. Favourite Quote: Although this quote isn't actually a spoiler - it is right near the end of the book so I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't already read the book.
