Super cute teenybopper book. Loved it. It's about a teenage boy who is having a hard time due to his parents ugly divorce. So he decided to get drunk, take his moms car to go yell at his dad. He crashes and gets into big trouble. He is assigned community service and has to visit a grouchy old man who is dying in a nursing home for over 100 hours. He learns lots of good lessons along the way. Quick read.

All it takes is for Elizabeth's friends and a bough of mistletoe at Christmas to get the ball rolling. Not one of his best stories; and yet, there are no bad ones, either.

I loved this book so much that I decided to teach it. And teaching it made me reread Virginia Woolf, and so I have a double debt of gratitude to Cunningham, because Mrs Dalloway has never been so luminous as in the light of this distant tribute. A sensitive, thoughtful and thought-provoking novel. In retrospect it seems predictable at times. But even the predictable parts are handled with great care and tact, and always with Cunningham's kind, and compelling, prose.
