Terry "Bluebird" Croteau and I were on the Appalachian Trail at the same time, in 2007. However, we did not meet because she was about 1,900 miles (3058 km) ahead of me. Think about that, we were walking the same trial, and yet, we were that far apart. That is one long trail. There are longer ones of course, the Pacific Crest Trail on the west coast for example, but many claim that the AT is more difficult. I can't say, I've only finished the AT, but I can tell you that it is one tough challenge, and Bluebird appropriately named her book! I admit judging a book by it's cover in this case; I bought it because of the title. I had been eying it for a while and finally just had to read it. With a title like that I just knew it would offer a few laughs. It was good. It was funny. It gave a very human, feminine view of the challenge that is the AT. She doesn't gloss over how difficult that hike is and the book's format gives a blow-by-blow assessment of daily life on the trail. One thing I didn't care for was the books "style." It is written in a journal form and I always had the feeling I was reading her log book, which I actually was. Nonetheless, the content was interesting and I did laugh at many of her comments and incidents. Sorry I didn't meet you out there Bluebird...
