This book made it to my most fave books. Story and plot lines are very well written and well paced. Above all I can't say enough, how happy I am that there's no love triangle. Thankyou Ms. Hudson for not throwing in a love triangle, just for the hell of it. I wrote this review after a couple of days after I finished the book and was still able to remember all important characters names, they were all that impressionable, so let's start with Characters: Amelia: There's not a thing I'd change about her. She is such a lovable character. She is funny, smart, mature and sweet. There's something about her that says Shy and innocent and yet she is very brave. She does things I wouldn't have done, like meeting Eli alone in the graveyard...I guess I am too much of a coward to do that. Anyway, I also like her relationship with Joshua. She loves him so un-inhibitingly and she gives it her all with no bars held. She is open with Joshua and I hope Ms Hudson doesn't break them up in the sequel (as is common with all books now a days) or introduce another mysterious ghost guy vying for her love as well....ick. Overall Amelia is one of my fave MCs. Joshua: Made my list of hot guys. It is creepy how calmly he takes in the news about Amelia being a ghost, but maybe he already suspected it, afterall he had a couple of days to ponder about invisible-to-everyone-but-him girl. Usually all first person POV books suffer from lack of other characters depth / growth and this book is no exception. We don't know much about Joshua except what Amelia shows us and unfortunately what she shows us is how hot he is, what music & books he likes, how much she loves him etc, but nothing about his personality, like what he would do at time of need, what would be his choices if the need be, is he a funny guy, easy going?, nothing about his thought process etc. Even Eli has more participation towards the climax than Joshua. He is as good as an audience booing, oohing and aahing. I am sure there's more to Joshua than we are shown, but I wish we get to know him better as well and not just being there for the sake of love interest for Amelia. A couple other Characters I am interested in are Jillian and Ruth. I am looking forward to read more about Jillian. Ruth came off a bit of a bully in this book, would be interesting to see if anything changes in future books. Now let's move to negatives: - I am not sure how to put it, but there was something missing that I can't quite put my finger on. When I took a break from the book, I didn't have that urge to get back, though I was sucked right back in once I get back eventually. - Also I like it when both MCs are equals and fight together, their powers complementing each other's. Like they are fighting as one against all their enemies. Instead Amelia is the one doing all the fighting while Joshua is just a spectator. Overall I think Joshua role can be fleshed up a bit and make him stronger. He feels way too Mary sue here, considering he supposedly having power to exorsize souls, he is very non-participating in climax. - When Joshua is with Amelia in public places (even his parents porch), I have this niggling, that someone is going to see and think he is crazy, especially if he is puckering up to thin air. This prevents me from completely enjoying the scene, instead I am worrrying about getting caught. Some other un-answered questions: - Why did Amelia start feeling after Joshua came into her life? - How was Joshua able to survive after literally dying? - What's with the electricity thing between Joshua and Amelia? - Ruth was all hell bent about sending Amelia away (though she has not done any harm), but when she gets a chance to capture Eli (the guy Ruth and her friends supposedly been searching for), she leaves it to her grandson (newbie) and Amelia (whom she doesn't trust)? She doesn't even go to help when she thinks her grand daughter is in danger? - What exactly is Amelia's power? Overall I loved this book and am looking forward to reading more.
