reading the audio book, it's good. I love the narration of meg cabot's books for all the audio books of her's I've listened to.

I liked B.J.D. because I thought the prose was cute in the journal form--this is not as endearing. It's probably more comparable to a junior young/adult fiction reading level. Plot is mediocre.

The Book started out kinda slow because the author had a lot a characters to introduce and an entire world to familiarize you with.IT also seemed slow because the first part deals with a lot of political scandals. By the end of the book Action starts to take place and really keeps your attention. I am excited to see where the rest of this series goes.

better than expected for me - at least Emma became a reasonably well rounded character for me, Dexter remained essentially a shell for a variety of male stereotypes I thought. Endings were almost as good as it was going to get for them - (view spoiler)

Sherlock Holmes and the Zombie Affair is a clever tale by Philip van Wulven that does not disappoint! A delightfully witty read, as a reader, I thoroughly enjoyed tagging along with Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson on their latest adventure. I commend van Wulven on his use of tone and language to capture the style of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. A must read for fans of Sherlock Holmes!

Of all of Smith's books, this one is my favorite. This novel actually got me into E.M. Forster, who I adore now. Thanks Zadie!

The book spends most if the pages reviewing working class protests in the West during XVIII, XIX and XX centuries and then using that information to extrapolate feasible scenarios for the Middle East after the Arab spring. Two main aspects drive my 2star rating: I was expecting more of an account of what happened and background on the actual countries rather than background on past protests in other region (the West), which makes the book leave me with the impression it doesnt really talk about Egypt, Tunissia or Libya but about XIX cent. workers in the UK; second, maybe rated to my lack of experience reading political science, but I have the impression that some of the main conclussions are more the sheer opinion of the author than they derive from the data and history. In any case, it's a short and interesting read that brings a framework and provides important concepts to get you thinking about the near future of one of the most politically hot regions of the world.

This was actually pretty cute. I really like Jane Green's style, because she doesn't just write fluffy novels like a lot of authors in this genre. She talks about serious topics in a realistic kind of way, and her characters are very likable, even when they're doing not-so-great things.

Atwood's delicate prose and complicated characters take what could have been a common cloak-and-dagger affair story and change it to a remarkable piece of historical fiction. The Blind Assassin jumps backward from a contemporary, gently-decaying Northern town and follows the complicated history of the town's most prominent family, the Chases. From the Great Depression to Bolshevism, science fiction, and a tangled web of familial alliances, Atwood's story follows the great sacrifices and treachery the Chases inflict on one another during more than sixty years of history.

** spoiler alert ** Oh Monica Holloway! THIS BOOK IS NOT TO BE MISSED....but don't expect to feel giddy or happy whilst reading it (always wanted to say "whilst"). It's incredibly comedic while at the same time, incredibly heart-wrenching. This author keeps you entranced with her fast-paced, real-life childhood encounters. She kept me laughing and crying, with my mouth open at times. The hardest things about this book, and I found there were 2, were putting it down before midnight so I could get a decent night's sleep, and realizing this is a memoir.... it's REAL....which was incredibly heart-breaking. SPOILER: No one should experience what this author did as a child, and I wanted to believe it was fabricated b/c it was too much to be true. Where were her guardian angels, damn it!? Her incredible ability to talk about her life and self in a self-deprecating way, and to have you laugh and cry with her....were just incredible. I couldn't put this book down. She has an easy to read style, a great way of setting the story in the context of her youth in the Midwest, in the '60-70's - and loved her references to clothing, styles, etc., and she is just, well, so likable and FUNNY. I'm almost done with this book and will finish my review later. And I heard this book will soon be a movie (2009) so you may want to read it beforehand. I first read an essay of Monica's in the book The Mommy Wars titled "Red Boots and Cole Haans" - Google it and see if you find an excerpt. It's about Monica's child....a must-read. I finished the book but really have nothing else to add to this - it says it all.
