A very nice end to the Wallflower series. I was expecting the story to be about Cam and Daisy, but was pleasently surprised by the character of Matthew Swift.

This is a great classic that all girls should read. It is very inspiring about dealing with and overcoming hardship and temptation without betraying values and integrity. I loved it!

19th century page-turner! And just when you thought those old writers were boring. . .

Thus far, Atonement is my favorite of the McEwan books that I've read. It was a captivating story about how a lie told by a 13-year old girl dramatically effected the lives of her family members. McEwan's writing in this novel is beautiful and the characters are wonderfully drawn. I hope to see the film version soon.

I reread Catcher in the Rye a few years ago and was struck by how old the book is. During my first time through I was so busy empathizing with Holden Caulfield that the action seemed relatively contemporary, but it wasn't, even back when I was fourteen. The New York City he runs away to is a vanished world of jazz bars and newsreels, and his brother D.B. fought on D-Day. If we guess that Holden was sixteen in, say, 1948, that would make him seventy-five today. It's not just that I grew up: the book also became a period piece. This extra layer of historical context only makes things better though, proving that Catcher in the Rye is a real novel and not just an adolescent rite of passage. As time goes on, I find that this is my favorite Salinger book. The ostensibly more grown-up Glass family stories are too precious--all those brilliant children with their perfectly literary flaws. Holden is a more common sort of dunderheaded teen, and thus more vulnerable and more real. Your sympathy for him endures long after your empathy has been tempered by adulthood. If I take good care of myself, I'll still be alive for the centennial of Catcher in the Rye's publication. I think I'll crack it open again then and see what I think.

I really enjoyed this book. It took place in my home state. I do remember when it was the lead story in the news. However, the book takes you behind the scenes. How does a person con so many people for so many years? My advice never believe anyone who plays the victim card.

It's not her fault they used one of her poems in 'In Her Shoes.'
