This book was rough for me. On one hand I was very happy for Sarah that she was able to make her random move work and she found love, but on the other hand I just didn't care. I don't believe that she should not have written the book, because one, she can write whatever she wants, and two, some people care about that, but I guess for me it doesn't really matter to me because I don't know her and her life sounds like everyone else's life. I'd recommend reading it, but I wouldn't have high expectations for it.

More of a textbook then a book. However, the information brought forward really is quite interesting. In a nutshell, this book gives an overall introduction to the subject of most amazing organ, THE MIND! Fantastic Read!

Not the strongest in the Joe Gunther series. This was about when, in my opinion, Archer Mayor decided to start shaking things up. An ill-advised detour to Newark (is that redundant?) really detracts from the things I like about Mayor's novels. Also, the series is now "long-runnning" so there are parts where Mayor needs to bring possbile new readers up to speed. So, for example, when Willy Kunkle makes his first appearance, it seems Mayor cuts and pastes in the same explanation, in book after book. For me it's like, "Okay, here's the background on Gunther's first wife....skim ahead until the story picks up again" or "Okay, here is why Joe and Gail's relationship is explained as unconventional...glaze over and jump ahead." It also did not help that WAY too many New Jersey lowlifes, with no real distinguishing characteristics, keep popping up, in the action and in character's conversations and it was hard to keep them straight. And not really the strongest "mystery" Mayor has written, either.

Sarah's story is so moving, Julia's a little less so. But I really enjoyed this book.

Brad and I read this together and loved it! What a classic! We loved the way the characters thought processed worked, and I loved hearing Brad read out loud all of the "southern voices"! Great for everyone!

Though I didn't think it was possible for the second book to live up to the standards of the first one, this book was just as good as the first. The storyline was solid, and furthermore harder to predict. Emotions were ever present, with Katniss and Peeta arguing over the survival of eachother the second time in the arena. This book kept me turning page after page wondering what the result is, and anxiously waiting to pick up the third and last in the sequel.

Jane Austen at her best. This is the fifth novel of Austen that I read this year, and I must say that this is the one that I enjoyed the most. The characters are interesting, even everyone’s ‘favourite’ auntie, Mrs. Norris, and they interact in such a gripping way I could not wait to know what would happen next. It is quite surprising that I also like Fanny Price, the main character. I was always curious to find out how she’s gonna react over the hard situations. I am usually not into passive girls, yet if you see Fanny’s circumstances, her shyness is somehow understandable. Her unexpected reactions when she comes home is also psychologically logical. After leaving home for many many years and being raised with an extremely different way, it is possible when she doesn’t feel at home anymore with her real family. Edmund is also lovely, for sure! Too good to be true? Perhaps, but as a reader, I witnessed Edmund’s flaws too when he falls in love with the wrong person. I enjoyed every scene in Mansfield Park, however I think there could have been more clear scenes in which Edmund finally realizes that Fanny is the best for him. For me, that would add the pleasure of reading the novel! But now worries, Austen’s fans, generally I still adore Mansfield Park. It is soft and elegant yet has this mysterious strength to keep me reading each page religiously.

I love this book, as much as I love any book that Vonnegut ever wrote. I suggest that if you didn't like Slaughterhouse 5 (and I suppose you are allowed to NOT like Slaughterhouse 5), you should try this book. I think it is still classic Vonnegut, a bit of the sci-fi, a bit of insight, and a few dirty jokes thrown in.

This is the first book in the Detective Inspector Hal Challis police procedural series by Australian author Garry Disher. The book is set in Victoria's Mornington Peninsula and revolves around the happenings of a police station in the fictitious coastal town of Waterloo. Amidst the usual summertime madness of small town petty crimes and vandalism, there is a killer on the loose. So far, two Peninsula women have been abducted, raped and murdered and indications are that the killer will not stop at two. With little evidence to go on, and coupled with some aggravated burglaries and torching of letterboxes, cars and houses in the region, Detective Inspector Challis and his cohorts have their work cut out for them. The characters of the Waterloo police force make for interesting reading. Most of them are flawed or scarred by life. Some are corrupt and some as straight as an arrow. Challis has a suicidal wife in gaol for conspiring to murder him. Detective Ellen Destry has a penchant for lifting a bit of cash from crime scenes and is in a loveless marriage with a troubled daughter. Constable Pam Murphy is intent on having an an illicit affair with an underage surfer. Constable John Tankard is a lecherous and unlikeable bully who seems intent on getting people offside and policing with a big stick. Sergeant Van Alphen swipes drugs from the evidence cupboard to keep his lover on an even keel. Only Sergeant Scobie Sutton appears to be free from vice and/or personal baggage, but is perhaps the most bland character, and doesn't appear necessarily well-suited to police work. The plotlines in Dragon Man were well-researched, intriguing and built suspense throughout the novel, although the killer was reasonably obvious from quite early on. In fact this is the only reason I rated this book 4.5 stars and not 5 stars. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable Australian police procedural novel, with interesting and meaty characters. Dragon Man provides a fantastic introduction to Hal Challis and his cohorts at the Waterloo Police Station and is a solid and entertaining launching pad for the ensuing books in the series.
