Man i loved this thing. I think the design is pretty amazing, of course the paintings are excellent as well, but personally i prefer the pencils.-and all of the stark ink work throughout the novel. The story is very very broad,-i am surprised Ross could actually weave the whole thing together, well done. Any fan of comics throughout the Marvel ages would get a kick out of this one, at least i did, and i had to look up a couple of the characters because they are out of the obscure(but i guess that is what the companion book is for! :)

This is one of the BEST books I've ever read in my life. Multiple powerful themes (i.e. nationalist awakening, national identity, colonialism, etc.) beautifully intertwined and conveyed to the reader at a very personal level through the life of the protagonist. Plot was engaging, as was the writing style (or translation). Everything I would want in a book.

I read this book on my sister's recommendation and really enjoyed it. The writing style is unpolished and cries out for an editor (or co-writer) but the story within is engaging. I look forward to seeing her live in the future.

This is our current bedtime book. It's much heavier than I expected, but quite good - the girls are enthralled. The damn rabbit words are a pain for reading out loud - I don't think I've pronounced "El-ahrairah" the same way twice. Still, we're having a blast, and last night the kids surprised me with a rocking clay diorama of Hazel and Fiver hanging out beside the warren. Good stuff.

It was really slow at the beginning, but about half way through it started to progress to greatness. I really liked how King wrote down Carrie's thoughts. I wish I could give this book a 3.5 lol. The movie Carrie 2 actually makes sense though...

More like a *** 4.5 star *** book. A collection of interesting albeit slightly quirky stories that will get any reader of any age [perhaps 10 and up] thinking outside the box. In fact, I think this book is great for a parent-child reading experience as it's entertaining and wonderfully illustrated but most of all because it will invoke some really thought provoking discussions about families, people in general, social norms and other important topics. Good stuff.

I think I liked the first book better. This had many of the problems you find in a 2nd book of a trilogy. I wanted so see more of the romance that was seen in book 1. There is a very good twist at the end of book 2 that will usher in book 3. I am looking forward to seeing how that plays out.
