I worked fruitlessly on these issues for a while, and it was so low on everyone's radar. I'm glad this book is spreading the word.

I'm not about to review it, but somehow it would end up that way. I would just like to say, the author tried to discuss prostitution and sex in the nicest way possible. I just somehow find it a little awkward cause at my age of 15, I was able to read a novel with such topics. In this gripping and daring new novel, Paulo Coelho sensitively explores the sacred nature of sex and love and invites us to confront our own prejudices and demons and embrace our own "inner light." Nevertheless, the novel taught me many things. Things about suffering, pleasure, guilt, possession, dream, reality, and of course love. The story implies many questions that can awaken you about different things. Though, the ending is somehow similar to other love stories, i found it romantic..^_^ Who says prostitutes don't have the right to love a man whole heartedly.?:)

Title in German: Die Meisterin Sonea suspects Akkarin to be involved into the murder of people by Black Magic. And involved he is – but not in the way Sonea thought. When Sonea learns the true reason why Akkarin works with Black Magic she wants to help him and begs him to teach her... but the guild gets wind of it and both are exiled into the wastelands of Sachaka. The last showdown with the enemies was over a little bit fast and I really thought "What? That was it?" and I would have wished for a better ending – there were possibilites to make that happen (I´m admittedly a sucker for happy ends). The epilogue lets the door open for a sequel although I´m not sure I´m interested enough to read it without Akkarin in it. It´s not a waste of time if you read this trilogy, it´s quite entertaining and exciting (sometimes) but if you don´t you wouldn´t miss much either.. This was really a bit of a reality check... My dance instructor suggested reading this when we were learning about the Gypsy dances. Sometimes I think that the Romany people are treated with a bit of romance/fantasy, but it's surreal to read about how these different groups live...

I don't like this one as well as most of our Seuss board books. It is hard to read out loud, and has no unifying narrative like "There's a Wocket in My Pocket" or "Mr. Brown Can Moo." It seems to be oriented towards a slightly older set that is learning to read - lots of rhyming words that have just one letter different. Thankfully my 20 month old isn't a huge fan either. Perhaps he'll be more interested when he's actually learning to read.
