I thought the mythology of this was very clever, but I just couldn't handle Kagawa's long descriptive paragraphs of how things looked or any of the action sequences. I'm just not a fantasy girl and it was just too much.

In keeping with pseudo-Utopian futuristic science-fiction novels, I decided to read this one after I finished "Brave New World." I was going to read "1984" next, but apparently I don't have a copy of it. Anyway...I liked this one a lot. It's fast-paced, with great characters, even the ones that only show up for a scene or two. I wouldn't have minded seeing more of Clarise, who was one of most inriguing characters I've read recently, but it makes perfect sense, and fits in the story, that she only had a few pages. The edition of the book I have contains an Afterword, which is cool, and a Coda, which is even cooler. I almost enjoyed reading Bradbury's Coda as much as I enjoyed reading the rest of the book.

‘Life is messy, clean it up,’ is a well-known sound byte from a product advertisement on television. Unfortunately, real life is more complicated, with enough twist and turns to make the most stalwart among us dizzy. In Joyce Scarbrough’s novel, Symmetry, she has written a winner focusing on the complexity of life and the many facets of human relationships. Jessica and Lee Cassady’s life becomes more complicated when they come face-to-face with the realization that their marriage is not as perfect as it should have been. Jess has no doubt that Lee loves her, but his macho posturing has always been a source of irritation to her, and his inability to understand her needs suddenly becomes maddening when she calls his hotel room and a woman answers. Scarbrough’s book is not your ordinary romantic potboiler, for she has combined a wonderful story with some of the problems that many people have to live with on a daily basis. Jess has a hair-pulling condition called Trichotillomania, which is one of many types of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Her book is not only entertaining, but it serves to increase public awareness of this condition, as well as the many others that make some of us ‘different’ from our friends. Having had cancer twice in my lifetime, I am well aware of support groups and what they can mean for someone suffering from afflictions beyond their control. Symmetry is well written, informative, and entertaining, and most important, it might open the eyes of many who are having trouble understanding the behavior of a loved one. The characters are real and the fast moving plot will keep you wanting more, I highly recommend this book and I suggest that you put it on your reading list. Symmetry is a novel you don’t want to miss.

This was the first in this series that I have had the chance to read. I will definitely be going back to read the first two. On his day off, Jeremiah decided to drive in to the Synagogue to do a little work. On his way there, he was rear-ended by another car. As the accident happened, Jeremiah caught a glimpse of the other driver in his rear view mirror. Was it his imagination or was the other driver already dead before the impact? For once, Cindy is the one to come out and help Jeremiah. Against his wishes, she called in homicide detective Mark Walters to help get to the bottom of this. This was a breathtaking story that really takes you along for a wild ride. No matter your religious beliefs, this is a cozy mystery that will keep you completely engrossed. I received a product in order to enable my review. No other compensation has been received. My statements are an honest account of my experience with the brand. The opinions stated here are mine alone.
