Had to read this for Comp II class and I will admit it was difficult to get into at first, however the Nigerian way of life started to really have an effect on me by Part 2. What with the Achebe's purpose in writing the novel and my love for different cultures, I found this to be a thought-provoking read deemed worthy of holding a place on the required reading lists for high schools and/or universities.

I read this right after some Ishiguro unreliable narrator stuff, so I was kind of in that mode already. I just love the way McEwan understands characters, I think he's ahead of his time.

Nancy Pickard has an easy and lovely story telling style. This mystery takes place in the wilderness of the American Sourhwest. Pickard proffers lots of character development and strong female roles. This is a quick, easy read. I recommend it!

Recomendadisimo!

The Teacher's Edition adds an extra layer of hilarity (and info!) to the original. They basically got a real-honest-to-goodness college professor to take a red pen to their book like a term paper (there is a lot of red). The professor has a great sense of humor himself, so it is an excellent read.

Second best Irving novel (after Garp). Very sweet, highly unusual interwoven characters and events which ultimately all come together to shape fate. Once again, it was the characters that I grew to love that really made this special.

I have read several books by Iris Johansen and I have liked them, the Final Target however is not one that I would put on the top of my list. The story goes in and out and at times I had a hard time following it. The characters to me were completely unrelateable and at times too wordy. There were several instances where I came close to putting the book down but the one thing that did intrigue me was the relationship between Cassie and Melissa, who shared a telepathic connection. Outside of that I cannot say That I found this book very interesting at all and it is not one that would recommend.

I love Bill Bryson, and I love this book of his most of all.

Eighteen-year-old Anna Welsley should be happy, or at least content. Her position is to secure. She's to inherit a fortune from her father's business, and is engaged to Richard Fitzgerald, the son of a duke. But instead, Anna finds herself dissatisfied, wondering if she even feels anything for Richard. When Lord Fitzgerald dies, Richard expects he will inherit his father's title of Duke of Brahm. But on his deathbed, Richard's father revealed that he had been married before, and that his true heir was Ewan McLaughlin, who had been raised in his mother's homeland, Scotland. Bitter against the father who abandoned him, Ewan reluctantly accepts his inheritance. But Richard, who always thought he would be Duke upon his father's death, is bitter and angry towards his newly discovered half-brother. Anna begins to suspect that Richard is angry enough to plot against Ewan. She decides she must warn Ewan, even if it means betraying Richard, but never expects to fall in love with him. Can Anna and Ewan ever be together, or will Richard take out his vengeance on them both? I highly recommend this sweet love story, set in England in 1818, to readers of young adult historical romance. It's a really romantic and charming story, and I truly enjoyed the characters.

Some lame dude left this at my house when he was kickin' it to me. After he crossed me I figured I'd keep it and read it before giving it back, but now he doesn't work with me anymore. I would have no problem giving this book back. I really didn't like it. I've read almost all David Sedaris's other stuff and loved it, but this just didn't do it for me. The only redeeming (and I would say 4-star story) part was the "Santaland Diaries." Awesome. Other than that, I wouldn't bother reading this book. Read something else he's written 'cause it's usually awesome.
