LOVED this book! Alex Delaware novels are great and this is the first one I read. Its a hard one to put down if you like muder mysteries.

Ouch - that hurt. Finishing this book was like taking a knife wound. I didn't want it to end there. But the good news for me is that Book 3 is out. In fact, I already read the prologue... Anyway, back to Book 2. I didn't like it quite as much as Mistborn: The Final Empire, but still liked it enough for 5 stars. This book simply rocks! The pace is somewhat slow, but that's necessary for the character building and development that Sanderson is accomplishing. But then when the action kicks in, it's like watching X-Men. This wasn't a caper saga like the first book, but rather a world-building exercise where Sanderson moves the players on his gameboard around. There are new characters and old alike, new mysteries and old ones seen in a new light. New revelations and surprises abound. Because this book is the bridge of the trilogy, I like to think of The Well of Ascension as: The Final Empire Strikes Back

Argh. Long, redundant, treats readers like they can't follow the story by reiterating details, can't seem to find direction for the plot. Glad to get through it.

Very intriguing premise. The war details and philosophical arguments wearied me at times. Didn't like the end. (Listened to as a book-on-tape; narrator wandered in and out of accents which was distracting.)

An upscale dinner party at a VP's house turns into a hostage situation after being attacked by terrorists. As the plot progresses, it becomes increasingly unrealistic but is extremely enjoyable using your willing sense of disbelief! I loved this book- very different!

I really think this a masterpiece in the concept of existentialism. Play, novel, poem... not many come close as this to the perfection of the written word. The writing is so simple and yet it will take many reads to understand it all. Is Godot god? I don't think so. To me, that would be to simple of an answer. I think Godot is a concept we all seek, but few ever discover. Not necessarily god, but individualism. "Who are we" is the mantra of existentialism. And nowhere is that more true that in this masterpiece. This is one play that I read many years ago and still think about to this day.

This book was a great beach read! The blurb on the back of the book doesn't do it justice. I enjoyed the characters and frequently found myself laughing out loud over something the main character said or thought. If you're looking for a light mystery this one is perfect for you. Don't miss Face Time, same author. Hank Phillippi Ryan did two signings at Willow Books and Cafe while I was the events coordinator-- she is wonderful! You should read her books.

my fav quote: "The innocent Indian honey of my infancy was now mixed with the pungencies of India spices, the sour and bitter, the nutty, and the tinglingly aromatic. Births, deaths, illnesses, caste, and creed had woven their way through the flavors like tenacious creepers, and yet, somewhere in my depths, each bite, each taste of all I had eaten, lay catalogued in some pristine file, ready to be drawn up when the moment was ripe." p243
