A decent 6th novel in the Series of Unfortunate Events. The plots become more outlandish as the series continues, but I suppose they would have to as few obvious ideas remain for putting the Beaudelaires in such dire straits. I enjoy the fact that a mystery is being revealed along the way that will hopefully be concluded at the end of the series. If the books were just the unfortunate events themselves, I may have quit reading some time ago.

One of the most appalling heros ever. He didn't just leap to conclusions, he actively looked for erroneous conclusions to leap to. He accused her of everything under the sun. And he NEVER shut up about them. It was nerve wracking. Feb 2012 So I just picked up a copy of this titled Naive Bride Defiant Wife thinking I hadn't read it. Turns out it must have been retitled as Jemima's Secret. Hmmm...

I barely finished this book, and I was extremely disappointed. I was looking forward to reading the novel, as I'm a huge fan of the TV show Sex in the City, and I'm a fan of the "20/30 something female looking for love" genre. But this book fell flat. Some of the events were mildly amusing, but not funny enough to warrant the length of the book. The foul language seemed as though it was there more to shock the reader than anything. The sex scenes were boring. And, worst of all, there was no character development at all. Even some of the flimsiest novels I've read paid some attention to giving the characters a bit of depth. Ariel was absolutely one of the most annoying characters I've ever read about. None of her relationships rang true. I just didn't care what happened to her. I really wouldn't reccommend this book to anyone.

i really didn't think i would like this book. i got it from the library because i put it on my list 5 years ago and as i looked at it, i wondered why i had put it on my list. but it completely had me. i loved this book...read snippets of it whenever my kids weren't looking. it was a fabulous romantic story about a life far from perfect but so beautiful.

Too many people with the same name. A bit slow at times but still interesting.

** spoiler alert ** Dark Heart Forever "Sometimes life is so complicated to keep promises." "Life presents many challenges...Temptation is one of them.. And free will govern us all. We have the power to choose." Well, it is just funny that werewolves are the rivals of the vampires up until here. Couldn't they become friends? I just wonder where the authors got the idea of vampires hating werewolves and vice versa. They are totally different from each other. I mean vampires versus angels are understandable, and vampire would appear as the antagonists.. Right.. I was just thinking.. It took me 4 afternoon breaks to finish this book. I was lost in the story when I tried to continue reading where I stopped-I was in chapter 6, i think-,so I reread it from the start since I started reading this one months ago and I just got so busy doing other things and forgot about this one. So, at first I really thought that the dialogues are emotionless and not really entertaining. I found the scenes in the book boring and dull. I think it was very ordinary although Luca already appeared and Jane got into the Nissilum already, I didn't find anything interesting there, actually for me, I felt that everything is happening so fast that it is really hard to keep pace and I really thought that I will going to just drop this book .. but I was wrong. The moment Luca introduced his world to Jane, I realized it wasn't an ordinary set-up. Nissilum is a great place, it is very hard to imagine a world that look like the mortal world where there is fashion, restaurant and etc. It is even hard to imagine that the supernatural creatures living in that world would wear dresses and gowns for a formal occasion. But it was entertaining and It was really cool! The presence of the witches and the angels in the story made me interested in it, also the vampires, werewolves and other shapeshifters. It was a bit odd for me to find a book were the protagonist is a werewolf and there would be no vampire. That's unimaginable, so I assumed in this book, like any other supernatural books, that Evan was a vampire, not a seraphim. Yes, since I reread the book, I got this idea that Evan is not a human. I knew that he is also from Nissilum, but I never ever imagine that he is an angel. I really like Evan for Jane. I don't like Luca for her for the reasons: first, it would be very predictable that Luca, a supernatural creature would be her love interest and I hate to go along with the book. Second, I know that Evan is not human, and if he would end up with Jane, that would make the story more exciting. And I guess, even if Evan is a human, I will still choose him over Luca. I know that if Luca will fall for Jane, there will be a consequence for that. The scenes appeared too fast! At first, that is a negative thing for me, cause I am just starting with the story and I had to feel it in order for me to gain interest. Suddenly, Luca appeared and claimed that he is her soulmate, and Luca is starting to tell her his secrets- that he is a wof, and then he allowed her to be with him in Nissilum and Jane discovered this unseen world. It is just too fast, and Jane's reaction is lacking in conviction. But when it reached the middle part of the story, it is back to normal, the scenes and reactions now are justifiable. Lowe was a nice character, I like him. I even think that it would be nice if Jane will develop some feelings for this brother of Luca. Haha. xD Lowe is a good brother I must say, he just wanted the best for his brother. I was really moved by Luca's dialogue on Chapter 17, when he was saying his farewell to Jane, it is like they were not gouing to see each other again. And more importantly, it sounds normal, not overstating or etc. In the end, Evan secrets was revealed, he was Raphael, a seraphim. And Luca finally told Jane that he loves her. Raphael went back to Nissilum and it was fine for Jane, it is said in the book that she's not hurt, a proof that she didn't fall for Raphael. I like the sequence of events. In the contrary of what I am thinking, this book is unpredictable. I never imagine that it will end that way, but it was satisfying. I absorbed the emotions of the story somehow. It amazed me that I enjoyed the ending though Evan left.. maybe I really really like him,but it come to the point where I hated him for his evil doings. I understand the flow of the story well. It just confuse me, it is said in the back cover that ONE GIRL. TWO WORLDS. TWO SOULMATES. Does the author mean Evan was his soul mate?? It was confusing.. Cause I don't think so. Also in the front, TWO LOVES. ONE DEADLY CHOICE That was crap!! Oh C'mon, she didn't even have to choose because till Luca told her that he loves her, Jane was controlling his feeling for Luca, and she didn't really love Evan. What will she choose? But aside from that, it was great! I just wish that Luca was an angel.. not an ordinary werewolf. And also, it would be nice if Luca was not his love interest. xD But everything was fine. I enjoy reading it!! I am looking forward for the book two and three.

I hate to say that, but I am taking half a star off for editing. Some phrases kept popping up over and over and over again, pulling me out of the story. Taking another half star away for too much sweetness. But it's my personal taste, has nothing to do with the book. That said - 4 solid stars. I will definitely buy the sequel. Very nice and easy read. Loved all the characters, great set up for the story. There are not a lot of good sci-fi out there, unfortunately. "Away Team" almost made me wish they made this book into a Star Trek episode - LOL

This is another book that helps me believe that books find me when I need them. I feel settled by the ideas of inner nature and things as they are. The idea of doing nothing on this lovely Saturday morning (Does reading theTao of Pooh count as nothing?) at Aaron's also has its appeal. I wrestled and will continue to wrestle with the Bisy Backson chapter, as I've found physical activity to be one of the principles I hold dear. I enjoyed reading this book and I'm enjoying the sunlight that is poking through the clouds, the tree, and the prisms of the front window.

I'm still not sure what constitutes as a Noh play. All the plays here have some kind of intertwine between reality and dream, reality and imagination. The blurred area between the two is interestingly wide. I'll make sure I'll go to one of the performance if I the chance.
