More of the same...but that is okay. Sometimes a formula does not have to be scrapped, rather tweaked to add intrest. Riordan does that well here.

Love her books! I like how she takes things of controversy and puts a spin on things.

Another of my favorite writers. Mahfouz is a master story teller. He is a prolific writer, stylistically diverse, and I believe innovative. Nights and Days was the first of his novels that I read. It is set in a mystical and magical Arabia, and thus somewhat allegorical. The novel begins on the day after Sharzad finishes telling her tales (The Arabian Nights) to the Sultan, and wanders from the palace to the quarters of the city. Each chapter reveals another story of those that live in the city. Although each chapter can be enjoyed on its own, they interweave to form a larger story as well. You will encounter as expected djinn, magic caps, and madmen, but Mahfouz subtly reinterprets these story elements to, I suspect, relate them to the politics and culture of his modern Egypt.

This book has never impressed me. I think the protagonist is a whiny punk-beeyatch. I see its aesthetic value, the achievement inherent in the text...but Holden just pisses me off.

Hollywood bad boy, Ty Ransome is ready to change his persona from action star to serious role candidate. When he reads a book of short stories, he sees his chance at changing in his grasp. Inviting the mysterious author to his home to work on the script is his first step. Gwen is a little overwhelmed with the idea of her book becoming a movie, it holds personal meaning to her and her fear that it won't be accepted by others. Forming a unique relationship first over the phone and than in person, Ty seems to understand her more than she does herself, but can she trust him. When Ty suggests they recreate the theme of the different stories for the first time Gwen holds an ounce of hope that Ty will be the one who can give her what she truly needs. Excellent story, I could not remember it enough to write a review but an fantastic reread. Gwen is vulnerable and you understand from the beginning that it is causing her to hedge where Ty is concerned. Ty is swoon worthy, there is one part in this book that really was beautiful in the beginning of his courthip of Gwen, although Gwen doesn't realize it yet.

This is more than a 3 star read, but not quite enough to round up to 4 stars. The potential for a fabulous story carried me through until a sudden shift in point of view. The main character, Bull, seemed to take a back seat to Sarah and the action became hers, with Bull fading into the background like a supporting actor. I lost a bit of interest at that point. Bull's character and background were more interesting, and though I was sympathetic to Sarah, she would have been better as a support to Bull. In fact, the dynamic between Bull and Ramblin' John Hastur was excellent. With Sarah, the tension was lost since she never actually met Hastur. The story abruptly changed focus to her family and background. As for zombies, and gore - the horror elements were all there. For some reason I was less drawn into those scenes than I have been with other horror stories, such as HORNS by Joe Hill. I'm not certain why - just saying. On the positive side, SOUTHERN GODS plot and characters, especially Hastur and Bull, were very well drawn. This was quite a decent book, and one I'll remember for several elements, such as oily mouth'ed zombies.

Kitap harika değil, ama çirkin çeviri ve çok sayıda dil ve yazım hatası nedeniyle kusurlu
