While it can sometimes be difficult to write in an already established fandom franchise, I have to say that I really enjoyed this book. Even though it read more like a crime novel with an international conspiracy and smuggling than an episode of Primeval - in that aspect I feel the book could've been better. However, I did like the way the characters from the show were written, I appreciated the insight I got into the way they were thinking. I even liked the original characters. The author made them likable, although by the end they were more and more threated as if they were just there for convenient disposal.

Great biography of Cicero. Widely draws on the sources available to us about cicero (largely his own correspondence) and presents him as a complex man with many nuances. Rawson does not present Cicero as the last republican, and thus as a tragic figure, she attempts to accurately display Cicero in all of his complexity as he probably viewed himself in various stages of his life/career. She also does a great job of examining all of Cicero's works, and discussing his philosophy and beliefs that fell outside of the political realm. Very interesting biography of a man who has perhaps had one of the greatest influences on political and ethical ideas in the West.

A great book that's a departure from the Pendergast series. The author has a background in anthropology and uses it to create an emotional and ethically sensitive book about a physical anthropologist who has to deal with the consequences of bringing a chimp into his family. It makes you question what it is to be human and what happens with misguided good intentions.
