It was difficult to read about the downfall of the Huskies during the Willingham years. He was clearly not a good fit for UW. Why hire a coach who had failed miserably at Notre Dame? There were interviews with former players, admin people, and sportswriters. I felt so sorry for the players who believed in the UW program. They were let down and left to suffer defeat after defeat. It was clearly the fault of the coaching staff and an A.D. who put having a black coach ahead of competence. They are on the right track now, but those players have to live with what happened during their college years. It cannot be redone. I am glad the story has been told.

Very interesting. I think this book was release to early in the series. It should have been the 3rd release at the earliest and done as a 0.5 version as it would have provided a little bit more mystery to the overall series and is only useful as background info.

Why is Susan Juby not more famous? The woman is on par with Christopher Moore in terms of chuckles per page and one of the few authors out there who can pull off some seriously good humor. Take one well-intentioned New Yorker with no farming experience, add a crabby old handyman, a recovering alcoholic heavy metal head and a chicken-raising tween with family issues and you have Woefield Farm, the site of ensuing hilarity when this rag tag team tries to raise something other than a glass or a flag. So clever and light-hearted that you almost miss the messages about the importance of kindness, sobriety, and family that are tucked neatly between laughs. Pair Woefield with The Bucolic Plague: How Two Manhattanites Became Gentlemen Farmers: An Unconventional Memoir for the perfect fiction/nonfiction experience of urbanite farming. A wonderful book to read and share with a friend. So please, friends, read it!

Despite a lot of irrelevant feminist ranting, the book had some good information. The author highlighted lots of problems, but didn't come up with many solutions. I really liked the real-life self defense narratives.

This book was used in a poetry class that I took in college. I really enjoyed it. The chapters are simple and straight-forward, and there are writing exercises at the end of each one. There are also a whole list of 20-minute exercises at the end of the book. As a beginning poetry writer, I learned a lot from this book.
