A great read. It assumes that you are a liar and manipulator by nature, but once you get past that, it's a fascinating study. Some great annecdotes from famous figures in history make it enthralling in parts.

This was interesting to me to see how all the authors picked up the story and made it their own and continued on leaving it for the next author. It was a very fast read but so much was going on you wanted to keep going so you didn't forget it all!!

The "perfect soldier" of the title is the anti-personnel mine. It waits until it is disturbed and then reacts - with deadly consequences. Difficult to imagine the vast quantities of these things spreads across the world's trouble spots.

Just starting this. Daunting at over 1500 pages, but is very interesting so far. The introduction was over 30 pages itself, and rather dry, but the intense detail of the day-of (all I've gotten to so far) is incredible. It takes over 300 pages just to go through the 4 days of the Assassination and next 3 days! (Also comes with a cd rom of 900+ end notes! Doubt I'll get through that at all!) -Later - Well, the first 300 pages or so were interesting, but then I started skimming all the ways he blasts the conspiracy theories. If I cared more, I'd buy it as a reference book, but until then, my curiosity was satisfied. And he totally ripped on that documentary the History Channel runs all the time.

I had to read this book for a class last semester. It looks at Christian rock as a subculture, not necessarily through a religous lens. It is well-written book, and the author, Andrew Beaujon, does a good job of being that annoying journalist and prying into everything to give a real feel to readers not familiar with Christian Rock and Christians in general, in America. From a Muslim point of view, this could be lent to the growing Muslim entertainment industry to use as lessons in the formation of a religous subculture in America, as well as different perspectives and views of religous subcultures by Americans.
