It's interesting--this graphic novel's often viewed as the ultimate justification as Batman as something superior than Superman, the latter who somewhere along the line became the representative of "authority" in Frank Miller's mind. Not that DKR is bad or anything, but in the end, I agree with the Big Boy in Blue more than anyone else. Not that I didn't like it or anything--but just because I was entertained doesn't mean I support its "message."

The world of Scott Wolven's loggers, drug runners, burnouts and fighters inspires itself--bad guys doing bad things. Its characters are their own misguided heroes, and it was clearly written by a person who wrote the book he wanted to read. There's something to be said for that.

I'm so sad that this is the last book in the Daughters of Jacob Kane series! I enjoyed all three of the books and will read them all again in the future. My favorite part of the story was seeing Noah's feelings for both his father and his wife change as God brought healing and forgiveness into his heart. The romance between Noah and Abbie had the right amount of spark and conflict to keep my interest and it was fun to see Jacob surprise his daughters with a romance of his own!

A great story about a young girl during the Civil War. She lives with the family of her bethroded and is ready to become the next lady of the house. Then she finds out that only one of the brothers will return from the war. The one who returns in not her beloved. She begins to wonder what really happened to him. Things don't appear to add up. Then the family goes to see a medium who uses photography to capture the images of the dead. Although she believes him a fraud, she find that something is speaking to her through his pictures. He beloved Will is sending her messages from the grave. What is it that he wants her to know and is he warning her of danger to come. Great book for Junior High kids who enjoy ghost stories and mystery!
