This was a very sweet Christian novel about four women who found themselves in difficult circumstances during WWII. It was okay, but a bit heavy on the Christian side. However, don't we as Latter-day Saints dwell just as heavily on Christian doctrine in our daily lives? Somehow we just don't seem to want to read about others expressing their gratitude to God and recognising Him in their daily lives, yet we do. So, if you want a nice novel about life in the USA during WWII, then I would recommend this.

It was recommended by my brother. A little ways into it, I didn't have high hopes and thought of putting it down and moving on. But I pushed through and came to love it!!! It's such a moving story and the underlying lessons are so basic. It definitely made me think twice about how I interact with people in my daily life. I will definitely be recommending it to others.

Um, I never finished reading this. I've actually never made it all the way through a Dostoevsky. I think it's because I never left myself enough time to read it for class and then never got around to finishing it when the class that assigned it was done. I like what I've read though and hope to go back and re-read it again.

What a fun book! This book came recommended from a number of different friends (thanks Lia and Paco) and family. I was not disappointed in the slightest. The book was full of subtle wit that left me smiling throughout most of the book (if not chuckling a little to myself). Terry Pratchet has that wonderful gift in turning our world 90 degrees in such a way that ordinary things suddenly become humorous and thoughtful. I recommend to anyone looking for a fun and a humorous book with a good, clean plot.

This novel performed the remarkable feat of bumping Stoker from pole position in my list of favourite vampire stories. Elizabeth Kostova has such lyrical prose that I was transported in time and across the oceans, until I was walking side by side with the three generations of protagonists. The use of Dracula himself was masterfully understated, and every bit as sinister as Stoker's version. The Historian has become the book that I buy whenever I see it, simply because I am forever giving my copy away to friends.
