I give this five stars as a must read for anyone who wants to get a little insight into those little boy minds. Great, great info on developmental expectations, dealing w/ tantrums and aggressive behavior, communicating, and working w/ our boy's teachers/educators when problems arise. As a Mom of 2 boys w/ 2 VERY different personalities, I feel I read this at the perfect time. Definitely geared toward caretakers of boys 6 and under.

This was the first book I've read by Tamara Alexander. It won't be the last. This book is the first of the Timber Ridge Reflections series. Elizabeth Westwood, newspaper photographer and daughter of a U.S. Senator, travels to the small Colorado settlement to photograph the natural splendor, as well as check out prospective land developments. For a guide, she hires Daniel Ranslett. Daniel has been living a reclusive life in the Rocky Mountains as he tries to recover from the scars of the Civil War. He worries the Yankee photographer will bring attention that will upset the delicate beauty of the mountains he loves. Elizabeth convinces Daniel to accompany her and he agrees in part to make sure she doesn't do anything to spoil the landscape. She ends up taking a photograph that could be a clue in a murder investigation. Despite their differences, Elizabeth and Daniel find that they can be civil to one another and can even be friends. The attraction between them suggests there could be more as they try to solve the murder. This book grabbed from page one and held me through til the end in a beautifully written story. The characters and romance developed realistically with enough of a mystery to keep me guessing. The book was also loaded with interesting details about early photography and Elizabeth treating her breathing ailments in the mountain air.

Started reading this in high school but didn't actually complete it until the summer after my sophomore year in college! I kept stopping, starting over, not completing, and starting over to finally completing... it's one of those books where I had to read in one shot as opposed to many sporadic spurts (I guess I'm just not smart enough to multi-task). It was my first real introduction to Vonnegut; although there are probably a few other ones that I could think of as more appropriate, it gave me a sense of his background and how he became what he became as a writer and as a person. It all shines through here and I always had this one in mind while reading his other books.

loved this book and the ultimate gift Carolyn and Sean Savage gave up with no strings attached. I loved knowing they have a blog I can follow at the end and she has since received twins through a surragate and what a touching story. I loved this book, and a fun great interesting read about families, values, and doing what your heart tells you is right.

I liked this even better the second time through. Just a bit disappointed that their love life is very very pg rated. A great romance... But any intimacy is very very glossed over for all that it built up to.. And never had ANY payoff. On to book two and I am waiting to see if that changes. Otherwise I loved the world building -- the settings in oxford and France and the bishop home were all very clever.
