A true journey of life. Boyd is a wonderful writer, and the story makes me feel as if I've lived the story I'd read...

Fascinating story of the survival of a family and their champagne legacy. Sometimes a bit dry, but in the end finishes bubbly.

I love Mark Helprin -- he's a great storyteller and also can be hysterically funny. But for some reason I could never get into this book. I tried a number of times and finally gave up. Somebody must like it because I see it's been reprinted in softcover!

This was interesting to me to see how all the authors picked up the story and made it their own and continued on leaving it for the next author. It was a very fast read but so much was going on you wanted to keep going so you didn't forget it all!!

This is the first Jane Austen book I've read! The notes and illustrations in the Penguin Enhanced E-book helped increased my understanding of the novel, its author and the time period. I cared deeply for Elizabeth Bennet, the lead character, and was surprised to find myself yearning to know what was going to happen next to her and her family. Times have changed, but the pursuit of love and happiness that Austen writes about in 'Pride and Prejudice' is timeless. Note to Kindle Users: This e-book divides 'Pride and Prejudice' into 3 parts, but there is no easy way to access a particular chapter (for example Chapter II of Part One or Chapter VI of Part Three). To get around this, place a bookmark at the beginning of each part and chapter as you read. To refer to a chapter later, open your bookmarks and select it.

Taft is not Ann Patchett's strongest work - and even she's admitted that Taft is not the best title for a novel. However, Taft is still a good read. It's a story primarily of fatherhood and loyalty - however misplaced. I've read all of Patchett's books, starting with the non-fiction Truth and Beauty, and think that Patchett is one of the best novelists writing today. She has a gift for language and is poetic without being thick. She also knows how to weave a story. Her characters, even those that aren't as well fleshed out, stay with you. If you've never read a book by Patchett, Bel Canto and The Magician's Assistant are much better than Taft, but if you've read her other works and want an engaging page turner that's far better than average, Taft is a worthy read. In fact, even you started with Taft, you'd get a good enough taste of Patchett's talents to seek out her other works and be even more impressed with whatever Patchett book found its way into your hands next.

Haunting. I kept dreaming about the story until I finished it.

This is another book that took me a while to get through. I'm glad I did. Very thought provoking on a number of issues. Ishiguro's writing style always takes some getting used to at first. I would recommend this book, but it certainly isn't "light" reading.
