A bit boring and thoroughly predictable. Didn't actually bother reading the last 50 pages or so due to apathy and boredom with both plot and characters. Followed the exact same path as all of Sarah Dessen's previous books and either I've finally hit my limit or What Happened to Goodbye (and her book previous to this one, I think it was called Lock and Key) lacked some of the interesting characters, plot points, and writing that she had in a few of her earlier books.

this book was a great book for someone that likes to play baseball. also for people who don't believe in there self. it helps you realize what quailties that you actually have. it is about a boy who doesn't think he can do anything in life then becomes a good baseball player. towards the end of the book something bad happens...... you have to read it to find out..

Lawrence Block wrote this military noir early in his writing career about Paul Kavanagh, an ex-Green Beret who retires from the trade. What's interesting is that Paul falls in love with his solitary, Crusoe-like life on a deserted Florida Keys island. George Dattner hunts up Paul and they plot to steal a shipment of nuclear weapons from the military in the Dakotas. Paul tells their caper in a low-keyed, conversational manner. He gets so far in, you're left wondering if he'll ever get back to his island paradise a million dollars richer. This novel is a brisk read, and one of the better retired-from-the-trade crime books. Don't expect flashy descriptions and over-the-top plotlines. Mr. Block is interested in his protagonist first.

I'm happy to say I really enjoyed this book. It was a bookclub pick and I probably liked it the most. It was one of those books where you feel like you know the characters and want to keep reading but don't want it to end. I loved the references to other books and the discussions about each one. Tied up all the plot lines and had a satisfying ending. This is the author's first book and is based on her own reading group. There were so many things that spoke to me I can't list them all.
