I was really disappointed with the ending....to much like Nicholas Sparks....a forty year old "accidental" pregnancy...I knew that the mother new...all that foreshadowing WTF for?

Thoroughly revisionist, but altogether stimulating look at China's relations with the 'West' throughout its history, making the country's past much more difficult to explain in terms of the typical historiographical analysis: "they just closed themselves off." In fact, the opposite seems true. A challenging book.

A baby climbs an elevator shaft with her teeth! That's the kind of writing I can relate to. Bravo.

This book, the sequel to Eragon, continued the story of Eragon and Saphira. Roran, Eragon's cousin, also takes up a good chunk of the story. At first, I was annoyed whenever the story cut to Roran, but eventually I liked seeing what Roran was doing. In the end, the two stories converged as Roran joins Eragon during the big battle. I liked learning about Eragon's training, and the ending makes me eager to read the third book when it comes out. The chapters are very short, probably because the series is technically for young adults (why do so many of my favorite books come under this category?).

This book was good but was an overview of previously read material. Some new facts but as much as has been written about the subject about the only thing you get is a little more complete cronology of events. I would still read in any case.

Okay, when I first started this book after I got through like the first few chapters I kinda (& I don't know why I did) skipped through it and read the parts that kinda ruined it for me. Well, still I made myself read it all and not skip through it this time and I'm glad I did. It was really good. I can't wait to read the next book (: In the begining Emma Vailes parents left on a mysterious buisness trip and all Emma was thinking was that it was the perfect chance to rebel. Maybe throw a few parties, get a tattoo (or a piercing) & enjoy her first few weeks of juinor year. Then her parents only worker, Susan, her old friend Abby's mother quits, to be closer to her daughter. Leaving Emma to look after the shop alone & her parents seem to have gone M.I.A. Then she start's hanging out with Natalie and her group of friends. Which eventually leads to them convincing her to throw a party at her house. Then the cops show up. They had gotten a report that Emma was living there alone. Then Natalie (whom she confided in about being alone in the first place) starts telling the cops about how Emma has been living there alone and how she can't get a hold of her parents. So, she gets put in the half-way house. That's when Bennett Stern shows up. Her handsome knight in J.crew armor. Bennett is her older brother Max's old best friend. & Her old crush. He shows up with a bunch of paperwork (which she suspects is fake but goes along with it) to be her temporary guardian & takes her to live at his museum-like mansion in New England. After that well you'll just have to read it for yourself (: But let's just say there's alot of ghostly secrets, past romances then present ones, And a few deaths along the way. Enjoy! :)

This book was good. It was quite funny in places; a tad reachy in others. I did laugh out loud a lot, so I give it a hardy thumb up. I'm going to try her other book also.

I'm surprised that in general the reviews on goodreads have been quite bitchy about Everything is Illuminated, but more positive about this. I thought it was a lovely premise, but not as well written as EII which I loved. That's E(verything)I(s)I(lluminated), by the way, not EII as in Leytonstone. If I were to compare Extremely Loud... to Leytonstone, I would say that Extremely Loud is better.
