This book tries your patience. The story moves SOOOO slowly, and I kept feeling like things were being repeated over and over again. I thought, it's going to be better in the end!?!? My sis-in-law summed it up nicely...there isn't an ending. You just read, and read, and wonder where it's going, and then it just stops. Not excited for the next book. Then again, maybe that's where the story kicks in?

Excellent story, tense and interesting with a unique take on demon possession. The author has an excellent writing style, and is able to write convincing, affecting characters with intelligence and sympathy. He also keeps the story tight and focused; nowadays it's hard to find a fantasy/scifi story that closes nicely with so few pages; I don't remember the page count, but the width of the book was slim, about 1cm or so. I look forward to reading other books of this author.

A wonderfully chaotic read. Full of action and crazed, zombie-like folk, and conspiracy. This book is written to give the reader glimpses into what the characters are going through as it jumps view points. Lots of killing, dark humor, and plain old action.

My first introduction to the book (like many people's) was from the Lionel Bart musical, Oliver! Not long after seeing the musical for the first time, I read it. I was immediately drawn in. Oliver Twist combines humor and tragedy, as well as Dickens' trademark "larger than life" characters, like the bumbling Mr. Bumble, the complex Fagin, the compassionate Nancy, and the terrifying Bill Sikes, as well as the poetic and tongue-in-cheek language. I would recommend this book to anyone, classic lover or not.
