Very interesting. Two intelligent men, each hopelessly devoted to opposite political agendas, somehow find common understanding, respect, and friendship. Very hopeful.

Great graphic novel. Story tale characters come alive as they live in New York city trying to get away for the advesary. There is only 1 prince charming (with many ex-wives) and the mayor is King Cole. Wonderful story line, How else can you have the big bad wolf fall for snow white?

Katchor is one of the most original comic artists ever, both in his scripts and his illustrations. He creates a bizarre yet recognizable parallel New York which is a bit more 40s than the 40s ever were, a bit more Jewish than even Brooklyn, and a bit more New York than the city itself. Somewhat surreal and wryly humerous, I have reread this many times.

Sad and ironic. First one by her that I had read.
These books get more addicting as you go. :)

Read Generation Kill a while ago and got this as a gift the year the miniseries came out. Was hanging around my bookshelf for a while and finally decided to read it. Enjoyed reading this book because it offered another view of the same conflicts that were in Generation Kill. It's always good to read things from more than one side. Good companion book to Generation Kill and vice versa.

I truly didn't know this novel would be so classically gothic. If I had, I may have read it much sooner, but instead thinking it another Austen-esque insipid romance, I avoided it until I saw a preview of the movie (2011). Again, I thought the dark overtones of the preview that interested me were merely a modern interpretation and coloring, but it sufficed to interest me. I couldn't even begin to explain where and how I was blown away...the brooding descriptions, the leitmotifs of dark fairies and presentiments, the mysteries and the pure delight that comes from reading it without knowing what to expect. I read a Tale of Two Cities and frankly had a hard time of it for the first half due to the style of writing, but it just goes to show that it's not the time period iteself, but rather the writer that makes it difficult. Bronte, certainly, presented no similar difficulty despite being more or less contemporary to Dickens. As to the plot itself, Jane Eyre could have easily gone into the realm of tragedy, but turned out to be quite the romance, and probably one of the only true romance novels I will ever whole-heartedly enjoy.

I don't like spoilers, so I'll keep things vague. Amazing fantasy novel with it's own locations and histories. Patrick Rothfuss develops great characters with depth, mystery and intrigue. I found it a little confusing the first time through due to the complexities of unfamiliar things. It is the first of a trilogy. The next book comes out March 1st and I can hardly wait!
