I was a little worried before I started reading this book because I hadn't read such great reviews about it. But I enjoyed it. I enjoyed The Friday Night Knitting Club more, but I still liked this book. I liked seeing how the characters had changed and grown. There was also a surprise (actually 2 of them) at the end that I didn't see coming. And this time they didn't make me cry!

One can demonize Diamant's interpretation of the story of Dinah, or one could be smart and realize this is a work of fiction, rather than getting offended over the content and portrayal of the Biblical characters who make up her work. Diamant admits that she uses a form of storytelling called "midrash," common among rabbis who try to fill in the color of the black and white stories told in the Bible to explain the "Why" of Bible stories. Diamant has simply created her interpretation of how she thinks the story of Dinah could have taken place. Be offended if you will, but this is not meant to be an accurate Biblical interpretation, nor does the author claim it to be. She discloses that she always thought Dinah's story would be interesting to tell and she has often wondered what the specifics of her story were and expounds from there with her novel. Again, if you are an easily offended Judeo-Christian, I would not recommend this book for you. If you are going to read it attempting to gain insight into the story of the Twelve Tribes, you probably won't find it. If you can read it acknowledging this is a work of fiction, go for it. Even so, I didn't find this particularly inspiring or moving. Having done some extensive Bible research related to women's issues and cleanliness, etc., I found so much potential with this novel and I felt like it fell short.

I highly recommend this series to any adult who loved the Twilight series. Sookie, a telepathic waitress, is a very unlikely protagonist for a paranormal romance series. But, trust me, it works. Harris' action packed novels intertwined with moments of mystery and romance are intriguing. These books are enjoyable, light reads that are sufficiently backed with some serious writing prowess.

I liked Scalzi's earlier books and there's something to be said for his hyper-speed pacing, but this particular book seemed a little "thin" to me. There were a number of times in this book when I felt like Scalzi just hadn't given us enough basis for believing that the radical plot developments could have happened so quickly/easily. Also, what exactly was the purpose of the "werewolves"? That being said, it was still an enjoyable read. I love the thoroughly practical way the characters employ the technological tools imagined by Scalzi's world (i.e. sneak attacks by genetically modified human SpecOps soldiers).

Daha tarihsel olarak daha akıcıydı ve İncil zamanlarında hayatı biraz öğrendiğimi hissettim. Yer, İsa öldükten kısa bir süre sonra Roma ve Efes'ti. Bir sonraki kitabı seri olarak okumak için sabırsızlanıyorum. Zaten kütüphaneden sipariş ettim!
