I couldn't stop thinking about this book all day long. I loved the premise, I was instantly in love with the characters OR hated them...so well written. During a regular work day I would be concerned about the characters and would have to remind myself it was fiction! I have had a tendency over the last 12 months to go the route of "chick book" --for lack of a better name-- and this one is not that way...a perfect read for either gender.

I loved it! I actually listen to it and I think that was the best way because of all the singing. Also I now know how to pronounce all the names and cities (well most of them). I am in the process of actually reading it now.

This is the kind of book that seems really good while your reading it. Then after awhile you realize "wait, why did I like this?" I could go on and on about the flaws of this book, but I'm not going to because truth be told it is worth a read. People just like to pick popular things apart. So read it,just don't get obsessed with it. I was one of those girls who got obsessed. (Not Pretty)

On the cover, Nature is quoted: "It's The Devil Wears Prada meets Walden Pond," but I don't think that does this book justice. For one thing, there is gorgeous language. Example: She's talking about migrating Monarch butterflies. "There they are -- swirling in the air like escaping bits of fragmented color from a kaleidoscope." The book is full of luscious laguage andc imagery like this. Second, many of the author's observations are of significantly greater depth than any character in The Devil Wears Prada. The only comparison I can make between the two books is that this IS fun to read, just like Devil was. But if you pay attention, you can get more out of it.

Another 3.5 for me. It started out great and continued nicely until unnecessary side plots of destiny, long lines of ghost hunters, alternate universes and future wars with the undead popped out of the nothing. The ending and plot twist were very predictable, but I'll put 4 stars there because I liked the characters and they had neatly defined personalities, and the story was creepy, so it fulfilled its purpose as a ghost story.
