I had the good fortune to eat a single meal at Roxanne's in Marin County in California (run by the second author of this book Roxanne Klein). It was maybe the best meal, and definitely the most expensive meal of my life thus far. I am not a raw food fan, but this meal was amazing, and some of what I ate at that meal I see in this book. So I have to recommend it. But, it really is for experienced raw chefs. The recipes are complicated and labor intensive, although I’m sure well worth the effort. This book is also absolutely beautiful: there are a large number of photos of the finished recipes and also of plain raw foods. The book and the recipes are works of art.

Cute premise. but unfortunately thinly plotted, with about the first third of the book a "joke" based on the superhero getting a visible erection while saving a lady. Also suffers from Scooby Doo ending.

I really enjoyed this book, but it was a heavy read and was a little depressing. A great story of this man's troubles, but it can get you down a bit.

Not nearly as good as Ender's game - the main value in this is following (some) of the characters.

what the hell (pardon the pun) did i just read??? seriously, this was the worst self-published psycho babble i have ever had to struggle through. this author sees "demons" and becomes born again. really crazy evangelical, speaking in tongues-kind of crap. ugh. don't bother.

Pretty good read. I was confused, and the big plot twist doesn't really make any sense... but science fiction doesn't have to make sense!

I have the Complete Sherlock Holmes on my Kindle, but for my own use I am dividing the 'one book' into individual novels. A Study in Scarlet is the first novel introducing Dr. Watson and Sherlock Holmes to each other and to the reader. An American Enoch Drebber is discovered dead in an empty house on Brixton street. Scotland Yard detectives Tobias Gregson and Lestrade call on Holmes for help, which becomes more urgent when Drebber's secretary is later discovered murdered in their Boarding house. All the relevant clues are there, but it needs someone with more deductive powers than mine to sort it all out. This is a split novel which spoils it. Half way through we are transported to America and to the early Mormon settlement. It is relevant to the mystery, but this long section reads as a completely seperate adventure story in the middle of a detective story. I found it all a bit dated and incoherent which is why I have rated it 3 stars.

The master of true epic fantasy. Wonderful characters b/c they straddle good and evil, altruism and self-interest. Great plotting both for its inventiveness and b/c Martin's an author who does the unthinkable: he kills his main characters - this fact alone keeps the reader on tenterhooks.

I read this book for the first time about 10 years ago. While this isn't the normal genre that I read, I picked it up on a whim, and was not disappointed. The characters are powerful, and for a 'young adult' book, I thought it was wonderfully written. I would recommend this to anyone. It's a fast, easy read, that you will enjoy.

Winter's Tale is a complex, long and just crazy story. It's fun, sad, scary and intriguing. Give yourself a good deal of time to read it, but you'll really get involved with the characters.
