Horner doesn't bog the book down with superfluous details. He's also an extremely enthusiastic teacher, and knows his subjects well.

Here is a book like no other. No names are used for the characters, just descriptions. Sounds like a tough read, but it flows so well you won't get lost in the story. I really enjoyed how society will fail itself if a terrible disease should take over. Even with all the wisdom and procedures at hand, society will still fail. It made me think that mother nature will always win out, because we really don't have control over her decisions on what happens to us humans.

I like her. This one contains one of my favorite lighthearted poems, "One reason I like opera".

There was much humor, some sadness and some just weird in this collection of short stories. But I am just not a short story lover. I always feel as though I am missing the point of them. These were all very much about being an Indian in today's United States. Stories of Indians married to Anglos, married to Indians, divorced from which ever. My favorite story were probably "Saint Junior" and "One Good Man." They were each about love, one love for a wife, the other a dying father.

August Wilson’s play “Fences” is about main character, Tory. Troy is African American man. He has a loving wife who takes all of his responsibilities that he leaves behind. Rose, is a loyal wife to Troy, which isn’t exactly the same for Tory. Try also has a life- long pal named Jim Bono who works with Troy as a trash picker. The two friends had endless talks about racial issues; Race is a big part of the play. Race is probably a big part of the play because August Wilson had to face racial identity issues himself. He is mix, but he identifies mostly with the black side. Something that really bugs Troy is the face that there are not any African American dump truck drivers at work. He finally gets fed up and takes a stand. He talks to the boss and instead of getting the expected firing, he got a big promotion as a driver. Troy’s character isn’t what you would call warm hearted; he is cold and only looks out for number one, himself. Troy leaves behind to Rose many responsibilities that she excepts because she really did love him. Fences is a realistic drama that allows people to get a chance to see what its like to be someone like Troy’s shoes, or even, what its like to be in someone’s shoes that gets walked all over by someone like Troy. A cluster of events happen to Troy in the point of his life the play takes place. Troy has extraordinary people in his life. The ending is consumed with possibilities; does Troy change his ways in the end? Will he stay the same r will everyone leave him? The answers are going to remain in “Fences”, but I will tell you, you wont expect what will inevitably happen to Troy.

I really wanted to put this one down. It was so incredibly disturbing, but at the same time a page turner.

I wanted to like this book and normally I enjoy all things weird & quirky but this was a bit too weird. I had trouble imagining what child I would recommend this to.

I thought it would be dry and boring but instead it was engaging and entertaining. Great adventure story!
