This cartoonish graphic novel is a fun adventure. The four recently orphaned characters take up the mantle of their parents and begin their own chapter of the New Brighton Archeological Society. A camping trip in the woods leads them on a new and exciting mission, and I can't wait to see what is in store next for the group. Children ages six to ten will especially like the fast-pace and supernatural characters.

It's also about marriage, dwarfs, opera, vampires, werewolves, blackboard cleaning and aryanism. It doffs its hat to Chekov, Conan Doyle and le Carre. What more could you want?

Not quite as fascinating as "L'enfant de Noé" but still a wonderful story built around little pieces of wisdom, so small yet powerful enough to change a life if we take the time to hear what they have to say. Schmitt's books are filled with such beautiful simplicity which we could only feel through the senses of a child. The book underlines the importance of smiling, reminds us that life's concepts aren't as complicated as we usually believe them to be, and - above all - defends the idea that each person should collect truths along the way and keep them into their own holy book. I particularly like this idea. Imagine we did that. Everyone would be both the creator and most fervent believer in their own religion, and we might finally free ourselves of our prejudice.

This book is about a girl(Brittany) from the "North" side of Chigago, that everyone sees her as "Perfect" becuase of her looks & her grades. Then she gets paired up with Alejandro(ALex), a guy from the "South" sdie of Chigago for Chemistry class. ALex is a gang member in the Latio Bloodz, and Brittany gets upset because Alex might mess up Britanys "Perfect" grade average. Alex's friends offer hima bet. Alex takes the bet to try & look tough to everyone. The bet was to try and have sex with Brittany before Thanksgiving. If Alex won the bet he would win his friends car. If he lost he would lose his most prised posetion; His bike. But ALex starts getting feelings for Brittany, and forgets about the bet. When Alex gets shot by Hector(Leader of Latino Bloodz), Brittany comes and visits him. He tells her all about the bet, and eventually they never see each other again...Until they go to college. He visit her sister, which meant alot to Brittany because Brittany love her sister deeply. Then he tells Brittany that he plans to ask Brittany to marry him when they finish college. It made me cry at the end :'D

You have to read this book. It is possibly one of the best books I have ever read. It is a really hard read, obviously since it is about the Holocaust. Your heart will be ripped out, but it's worth it to know about what happened in 1942. Though fictional characters and situations, the main event of the Vel d'Hiv roundup is true. The author switches back and forth between Sarah's point of view in 1942 and a present-day journalist who is somehow tied to Sarah. Be warned that there are situations dealing with children that will be very hard to read and images that are traumatic to imagine, especially if you have young children. This also came out as a movie this summer in select theaters. I will definitely be seeing that when it comes out on DVD.
