incredibly dense with useful, practical information. I was taking pages of notes before I gave up and just classified this book in my mind as a reference book.

I am a huge fan of Civil War and it's tie-ins that I have read. This series is what got me back in to comics as an adult. After a long period of not reading comics I decided to visit the comic book store on a whim and saw the free teaser sketchbook for this series. I decided to pick up the first issue and try it out, After reading the first issue I went from not reading comics to being at the register with a handful of books every Wednesday. Mark Millar did a great job making the story feel big and important. I really felt like I was reading history in the making. One of the best parts of this series is you can read the seven core issues in this volume, and not feel like you are missing out on parts of the story. Marvels big events usually must be read with tie-ins to be fully enjoyed, so this is a great change. This series also made me a huge fan of the artwork of Steve McNiven. He beautifully captured all of the action and emotion of the story. I would highly recommend This volume, as well as the tie-ins to anyone who likes good comics.

I didn't like this one as much as I did Water for Elephants. It was an easy read and the last 50 pages were pretty good - at least they made me want to stay up and finish the book. I don't want to spoil it but there were a few things at the end that seemed to be just thrown in to help wrap up the story or for just a quick jab of excitement but not really important to the whole story.

I truly enjoyed this book, and it was an incredibly fast read (I was home sick yesterday and it took me about 4 hours cover to cover with no interruptions). I love the way Gudenkauf writes, as she spends a chapter focusing on a single character's perspective at a time. The story was surprising at many turns, similarly to her other novel "The Weight of Silence" and I am looking forward to reading future books by Gudenkauf. If you like suspensful novels, check this one out!

I never really wanted to read this book. I preferred Segal's The Class to this saga, but since I was going into Medicine and my mum had a copy of it in her library (from her Med school days, no less), I decided to read it. That was almost 8 or 9 years ago. I don't remember much of the storyline of the book except for that tiny part where they had to kill dogs for an experiment. But a few months before finishing my final year in Med School, I noticed a number of copies of this book being brandished around by my classmates like a trophy of some sort. Before I knew it, quotes were being dropped and classmates were asking, "Have you read this book? It's really good.." It's almost as if you're not a doctor if you haven't read "Doctors". But, I guess, that is brilliance of this book, in that even if it was written years ago, following a class of med students at Harvard, struggling to become MDs, we, young Filipino med students, still identified with it, understood it and in some ways, was inspired by it. Time and distance amount to naught when we travel that same long and hard road. In the end, Segal has managed to create a classic, a timeless story that will continued to be read by doctors, present and future, and perhaps even by non doctors alike.
