TO be honest not the strongest of the Temperance series. Again, LOVE Bones but I think that writing the TV show has taken away the magic of this character for me. Bones is SO much MORE on TV then here. I like her in the books better, as a person, but it went from dated (her early novels) to a rushed presentation. She talks about having three elements in her comments in the back but the love aspect was wishy washy at best. I kept thinking, what are you doing? Petting the cat again huh? It was another book, nothing to scream about or give a 5 star review. Glad she has her other project with the YA books because Temperance has gotten boring! Still a fun read but just eh...

I came across this title through an interview with Thom Yorke, who mentioned it in passing. The title sounded interesting--very interesting. I looked it up on Amazon and read the sample pages. I was hooked from that moment on, Murakami is that damned good.

The thing that really kills me about this book is that our hero doesn't get any more likable. He's really insufferable throughout the entire book. The saving grace is that we spend less time with him than we did in the first book. It's a lot different than I remembered as a kid. It's actually not funny how white men are so terrified of fat women hitting on them. It's always so obvious they're evil the second they show up. (view spoiler) All the time, it's boring. Anyway. rereading it has been informative. I knew ASOIAF cribbed a lot of shit from Memory Sorrow and Thorn, but I wasn't aware exactly how much until this book.

I really enjoy David B's work. Epileptic is one of my favorite graphic novels. The art in Nocturnal Conspiracies is quite beautiful and his depictions/visual interpretations of dream imagery are interesting to look at. While I realize that dreams often (perhaps usually) make no sense and do not necessarily constitute stories with a cohesive plot or narrative, I nevertheless found most of these dreams unsatisfying from the perspective of an outsider getting a glimpse into the dream-world of another. On a visual level, they are wonderful and whimsical, but hardly any of them stuck with me after I finished the book.

This was such a tragic book, but such a good story. The author wove this story so well, so I could not predict something that seemed so obvious in retrospect. Give this one a try!

HORRIBLE! I had to read it for book club. I think part of what made it bad for me was my lack of interest in old, English lit.

Saw this in a comic book store and it looked intriguing.

Probably my least favorite of the HP series, mostly because Harry spends the book being the World's Biggest Prat (a title formerly held by Percy Weasley)

Fire is honestly one of the best books I have ever read. I liked Graceling but I definitely didn’t like it as much as some people. I was the opposite with Fire. I think I liked it a lot more than most people. To me, it just had everything I wanted and it got me so excited for Bitterblue! Fire may be totally gorgeous and kind and smart and powerful but she certainly does not have an easy life. She is hunted, spat at, hated, and sometimes overly adored. It’s hard to know who actually likes her and who is just infatuated with her. She never lets it go to her head though. She tries to hide her beauty and only uses her powers for self-defense. That changes when she is called upon to help the royal family but she doesn’t let it turn her into a monster. She is ultimately a good person and that never changes. There were quite a few characters in this book yet Cashore made each one unique and totally lovable (even Archer in his stupidity.) Each character was fleshed out and so easy to understand (at least most of the time.) My favorites were Brigan, Hanna, and Nash. Brigan was such a wonderful guy. He starts as a bit of a bully but that doesn’t last long. Deep down he is a total sweetheart and I loved him (more than Po.) Hanna was so brave and smart and funny. Nash was also funny but usually when he wasn’t trying to be. I loved watching him grow and the changing nature of his relationship with Fire. Admittedly there isn’t a ton of action in this book but it didn’t slow things down at all. Normally it takes time for me to get into a book but that was so not the case with Fire. I was hooked from the beginning and I read the whole 450 page book in a day. Also, Kristin Cashore’s writing may be some of the best I have read. I have never read such beautiful writing and I’m pretty sure I will read whatever she writes in the future. Overall, Fire is an unputdownable read with romance, mystery, intrigue, assassins, and one kick-ass heroine. If you haven’t read it do so now!

Bekle. Kimse beni akşam yemeğine davet etmiyor. Tamam, sonunda davet edildiğimde gitmeye hazırım.
