The authors ability to translate Eastern meditation concepts into the Western life is unparalled in my opinion. The book is an easy read and I highly recommend. I read it as an adjunct to Linehan's DBT manual and found it to be helpful when implementing mindfulness in the group setting.

I came upon this book at a time when I needed a calming influence. It was in my childhood toy chest - a gift waiting to be given, so I gave it to myself. It was just what I needed the day I discovered it, and I've been reading it ever since. It's a daily reminder of gratitude, focus, love and joy. I read it before I fall asleep because the thoughts are calming for me.

i loved "of human bondage," so wanted to try another of his books. this was a dense, often trying and often funny novel set around the Depression, following just a few people as they live very different lives.

Chima delivers again with this second book in the series. She really knows how to portray the soul of character. This series rivals other YA/fantasy series like Percy Jackson & the Hunger games. Very well done and I cannot wait to read the next one. Can't wait to see Seph and Jack team up and display their power.

Accessible poetry, full of punch and different voices. A shame the overall tone is anti-men, but then the truism is that all happy families are the same, but each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way (Tolstoy, Anna Karenina). My favourite poem here? The Shakespeare sonnet page 30. But I'm struck by The Devil's Wife pp 42-46 (Myra Hindley, I believe). And there are many good lines and phrases. More a book to dip into again and again than to read at a sitting.
