What would happen if the boundaries between reality and fiction disappeared? What if you could share or alter a moment in literary history? What if you could go between the pages of your favorite book, meet Harry Potter, fall down the rabbit hole with Alice or get lost in an Emily Dickinson poem? Well all this is and more is possible in the surreal alternate history of Great Britain, 1985, where literature is taking very seriously and altering literary works is a punishable crime. This is all in a day’s work for Thursday Next, Special operative in literary detection. It’s her job to catch people who forge literary works or enter novels and alter the verse. But someone is up to something even more sinister than just jumping into Shakespeare plays and heckling the performances, someone is kidnapping characters from works of literature. When Jane Eyre is suddenly missing from the pages of the Bronte novel Thursday must enter the novel and join forces with Mr. Rochester himself to solve the mystery. Can Thursday save Jane Eyre from literary homicide and restore the novel to its original genius or is the classic doomed forever?

It is a feel good holiday story. A very quick read. Kind of predictable.

I just cried for the past hour over this book! Why do books affect me so? Alas no matter how hard I try fictional death is too much for me Dumbledore's man through and through!!!

Eggars best work yet, this fictionalized account of a Lost Boy´s journey through Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, and the United States was haunting. This is based on a true story of Achack Deng and is incredibly honest and well-written. It gave both a personal and historical account of the events leading up to the civil war in Sudan and the struggle that the boys went through. I could not put it down and thoroughly enjoyed the book´s content as well as its purpose, to draw attention to this problem.

I have no problem with Dan Brown writin books about Jesus being married. I know he's full of it and some Harvard author can't shake my personal faith with a novel starring Tom Hanks. :) But I AM offended when he writes a book with such easily telegraphed "Surprises." I could tell the Super Mysterious True Identity of the villian within pages of the full introduction of the key players in the story and the minute I knew it was in DC I guessed the Secret "Everyday" Location in the city that held the shocking reveal. Oh, and Dan Brown? Do some research--there is no tunnel anywhere at the King Street Metro Station.

This was a flat-out, whack-a-do book. Only one happy character in the book and he's just a supporting player.

Boo. Awful, disgusting, mean-spirited from page one. I prefer the movie, thank you. I prefer Jonathan Brandis with a stutter.

For someone who is supposed to be so level headed, I found Agatha Raisin in this book to be more than a little silly. Added to that, my Nook book came with the opening of the 17th Agatha Raisin book which contained not an insignificant spoiler. Not sure I'll read any more.

I know I super-liked this book, but I can't remember anything about it. Isn't that so sad?
