This was a great continuation of the mist born series but it was a little slower because of character development and details. The was totally awesome and a surprising twists.

I have no problem with Dan Brown writin books about Jesus being married. I know he's full of it and some Harvard author can't shake my personal faith with a novel starring Tom Hanks. :) But I AM offended when he writes a book with such easily telegraphed "Surprises." I could tell the Super Mysterious True Identity of the villian within pages of the full introduction of the key players in the story and the minute I knew it was in DC I guessed the Secret "Everyday" Location in the city that held the shocking reveal. Oh, and Dan Brown? Do some research--there is no tunnel anywhere at the King Street Metro Station.

there is always something with those p.m. Cases. Always hard to guess the murderer until the end. Really like it.

Very interesting. This book had a darker side to it with its foray into the world of the Hellfire Clubs and the seamy side of the gentry. This makes an odd juxtaposition to the main character's naive, sheltered, and sweet personality. I really liked the two main characters and mourned over their continued romantic misunderstandings. There was very little to do with French spies and more to do with India in this book (a marked difference from the previous four books) and no involvement from the Pink Carnation. Yet, it was a pleasure to welcome back Miles and Henrietta (from book 2) in a more prominent role. As always, Willig's books are fun and fanciful while still maintaining a historical edge. The modern love story is still rolling along and had a funny little twist in this book. It appears that Ms. Willig plans to continue this series indefinitely, leading me to think that she'll be expanding her cast of characters and locales (or else her next book will be completely about the Pink Carnation and the series will be over). A highly enjoyable romp through the pages of history. On another note, this book centered around the "madness" of King George, a time in history I have not read much about, but which makes me want to look further into this interesting state of affairs (and perhaps watch the movie, too).

This is the first instruction manual ever written about anything. And it is about how to die and enter into the Bardo(the state in between death and rebirth), and attain liberation from Samsara(The circle of suffering, i.e. earth).

Do not be fooled by this slender novel because Whittall packs in quite a punch! Set against the backdrop of Montreal's 1995 referendum, Whittall brings the reader into a world where rebellion is the norm and assimilation is not a guarantee. It is here that the reader meets Eve who is young and naive in this changing city. She wants more than anything to move out of her parents' house and start a life of her own. When she meets Della, Eve thinks that she has found the answer to her prayers. Della is older, experienced, and wild. While Eve learns a great deal from Della's antics, she learns even more from herself and her reactions to life with Della. In a roundabout way, she is finally able to accept herself and gain confidence in her decisions. The turmoil of the 1990s in Montreal is a fantastic setting for this novel in which all of the main characters are in emotional flux. Whittall's writing is refreshing and a delight to read. Her characters have great depth and even those who are antagonizing someone find a way to win your heart. Overall, this is well-worth a read and a re-read. www.iamliteraryaddicted.blogspot.com

I was entertained for an entire month by the Count of Monte Cristo and his many, many friends and enemies! A thrilling story of complete and utter revenge with lots of romance and duals and poison and adventure.

Ehrenreich really tries to find out what it is like to be a minimum wage worker in America, but she never abandons her white or upper-class privilege, so the whole book comes off as hypocritical (not to mention the fact that in writing this book she actually takes jobs from people who need them. She also attempts to organize a union, something that puts her "co-workers" at risk of firing--but of course she's safe. And her hatred of people who employ housekeepers is sort of astoundingly dense. Please, don't read this book. Try actually talking to people who work for minimum wage.

Just as fun as the first. A cute series, nothing really deep, but we do find out more about Alex's father and past.
