It is not as good as everyone has made it seem. For being such a small book it is taking me awhile to finish it

What's there to say? A classic in every sense of the word. Frighteningly current to today's world.

Amazing intellectual representation of the higher consciousness that makes it very easy to comprehend.

I thought this was an extremely clever interesting book for people who like books. While in a strict sense, it's not on par with many of my five star/recommended reviews, I still loved it and found it very charming. Each page is a dictionary entry about a man's relationship with his girlfriend and through the A-Z entries, you learn the story of their relationship. Some entries are a line or two and some are a little over a page. This book can probably be read in a 60-90 minutes. Even at the end of the story, I don't know the names of the main "characters" due to the quirky style.

A fun read; great mix of 2004 travelog with the travels, prayers, exploits and monastic life of St Francis & his followers...the author is down to earth, has a genuine feel for the St Francis and a good sense of humor as she drives criss crossing Italy following the walking Francis. I think worth reading before/after traveling to Italy. Well documented.

Why are the Russians so bitter? In this novella, Dostoevsky creates an extraordinarily bitter hermit of a character, whose only goal in life is to make others as miserable as he. He deliberately insults the reader, obnoxiously imposes himself upon old friends who supposedly owe him money and half-tries to "save" a prostitute from her lifestyle (at one moment condemning her and in the next begging for her company), but ultimately he leaves the pages of the novella as isolated and bitter as he began them, which, by then, I think he deserves.

Fascinating! Reinforces my reading of other books about new discoveries in neurology. Looking forward to his book on plasticity. I'm looking for other books on this subject.

I would loved this book if I was 16. 'Nuff said.

God this book sucked. But I read it all the way through AND saw the movie. I guess it was okay at first. But I just could't see anything much redeeming at all about the characters, the story, the pot "twist" or the resolution. Certainly no Bridget Jones.
