i always want to know more about this time in history and this book is full of information about what happened during this time. it begins before henry is king and ends with his death and covers everything in betweens and gives the reader a better understanding of who henry VIII was and you begin to see how his madness began and who was behind it. its a good read full of details, and descriptive in every sentence.

This book was a very fast read, partly because of the large type in the book, and the fact that I didn't think it was very long!! The story was okay, typical teen drama unfolds all focused on 'will he kiss me??', 'Is he the one??'. The fact that I am no longer 15 (thank god) made this book kind of boring and blood boiling. It wasn't anything more than a 'harlequin' novel for teens, and the fact that the main focus seemed to be about getting kissed made me want to throw the book in the corner. However, probably the redeeming factor was that the main character, Sam, was smart and did not give in to peer pressure which I liked, no more damsels in distress for me!! So, overall: 2 stars, the writing was ho-hum, the story was ho-hum, but I liked Sam and Eric.....cute couple :)

Wow - this one I debated the four or five star rating. Probably would've been a 5 if it didn't get so horribly depressing...I felt like I was on the sidelines watching lives (and a nation) completely unravel and it was really hard. Beautifully written - totally educated me on the Nigerian civil war and the largely unrecognized country of Biafra. Very, very real characters that I felt like I knew by then end...

Maybe the most complex book I have read at this point in my existance, but also one of the most rewarding. Sure, there are long tangents and you wonder where the story has gone and get confused by Pynchon's long passages and never ending supply of characters. However, it all comes together in telling a story of friendship, love, and the foundation of America. If there is ever a book to be sprawling, this one deserves every page. You have to take your time with Pynchon's prose and storytelling as to not get lost and frustrated, but this is colossus work is a great one.

Lots of secrets to keep and to juggle: can she pull it off again? This is a terrific TV journalist mystery series. Hank Ryan is nominated for an Agatha for this entry: much deserved.
