This took me forever to get through...Great story...but I wish the author would just Get to the Point. I was just approaching page 700...phew... thinking, yeah, let's find out what happens when the kids grow up...and I come across no details on who got married, had kids, etc. Just page after page of diatribe about the Reagan Administration...are you kidding me?! How boring and disappointing. It took me a couple days just to pick up the book again.. I was so bored. But this morning, I was stuck on my recumbent bike and had to read something.. I finally finished it.. I did reread the last chapter describing all the kids and grandkids and who they married... very confusing the first time. But it was great to find out what actually happened... The politics..and nuclear weapons opinions...boring! Way too wordy...if I wanted to know about that, I would not be reading a Love Story, would I?

That ending made me angry. Angry angry angry. But the book was really beautiful. And probably one of the best depictions of "the act" since "Forever" by Judy Blume. Way better than that "other" well-known vamp series. All-in-all, VA is shaping up to be amazing. I'm glad it's a duo of trilogies and that I have three more books left, plus the spin-off Bloodlines. Richelle writes a lot of laugh-out-loud funny lines. Had it not been for Rose's humor in this book, a good portion of it would have been a bit too whiny. Fortunately, Rose (and also Christian and Adrian) have a knack for the sarcastic that really makes you think of the characters as real and not fantasy. Anytime where a character reminds you of a real life person or is full of real world humor and wit, it's a good thing. Ready to start the fourth ASAP.

I was surprised how completely different this book was to the recent film, starring Will Smith. I enjoyed both, although this book definitely desverses a more accurate conversion into film. I really enjoyed it.

Oh gosh, Makoto Tateno has done it again! I adore her art style, and her stories and characters are real and have issues any reader can relate to. It's going to be hard to wait for the next volumes... this one ends in quite a cliffhanger. But! It's so worth it. :D
