While most of book club liked this book I found the quirky characters somewhat lost and the story disjointed. It could be the story was not appealing to me at this time in my life. We all have personal baggage and events and I needed a much more soothing story. That said I cannot be a good judge of this story. I tried to like it and it did not do it for me.

Hadyn and Maggie have a fight, and Hadyn runs away, determined to find the train station. When Maggie learns Hadyn never made it to town, in spite of hating him, she sets out to find him in the wilderness. But a blizzard descends upon the mountains, trapping Hadyn and Maggie in a harsh and unforgiving wilderness. If they are going to survive and find their way home, Hadyn and Maggie have to work together. This book was an exciting survival story in a historical setting.

For me, this book is a consuming read. I haven't actually finished it yet because it takes so much out of me. But the story of the Buddha has totally helped me in understanding the dharma and my own personal practice. Maybe that's why it's taking so long for me to get through. I'm studying it, not just reading it.

I was very eager to read this book, the second in the Chanter of Tremaris trilogy, because I absolutely loved the story and characters of the first book. I am happy to say I was not disappointed. I recommend this book to all readers who enjoyed the first book, and teen readers who enjoy fantasy should definitely give this trilogy a try. I can't wait to read the final book, The Tenth Power.

I never would have picked this book up on my own, but did so having to read it for University. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The characters are wonderful...you feel for the heroes & loathe the villians (though I admit that I found them very amusing!). What really surprised me was how 'racy' it was. I bet this was a popular book when it came out! All in all, a great intro to Gothic literature.

I was definitely a watcher of the show and I really enjoyed this graphic novel as a return to that world. I also really liked the different artists who contributed it is really amazing all the different comic styles. The story itself was also decent, a collection of past-present-future renditions of the slayer mythos. My favorite are the future slayers, though it became a little true blood like in its complaint of vampire politics and coming out of the coffin, it was still a good collection. Also the book is really nicely bound with a red ribbon page marker...nice touch :)
