This was an okay read. A sort of terminator jumps back in time to save a woman from a serial killer, cute but not terribly unique. The cyber-wolf was nice. I enjoyed the book but can't say that is stuck out as especially gripping. Standard hero needs to keep the bad guy from killing innocent people and so he gets embroiled in situations and viewed with suspicion. Good wins, HEA ending. It's okay.

The main thing I learned (and have implemented with my 4 month old) was the "feed-wake-sleep" order of events in a flexible cycle/schedule throughout the day. I had not previously thought this order would be possible, but my infant seems to really like this new system after all. I am curious whether my infant would have liked it if I had tried it earlier. (Note: as with any parenting book, read this book to get ideas, but read it with your filter on and make your own decisions.)

I don't remember a lot about this book, but I really liked it! It was one of my first romance books, and this one is actually appropiate!!! ;) (From what I remember...)

I would really give this book 3.5 stars. I was initially disappointed with the slow pacing of the story. I should have known that it would only be a matter of time before I was sucked back into Olamina's story. Octavia Butler did not let me down. This is a story of the efforts of Lauren Oya Olamina to jumpstart her Earthseed belief system during the dystopian chaos of America in 2032. At this time, America is no longer the shining city on a hill. Alaska has seceded from the union, American currency is worthless and slavery, disease, and violence are widespread. Out of desperation, citizens have elected Texas Senator Andrew Steele Jarret as the new President of the United States of America. Jarret also just happens to be the head of the Church of Christian America. Jarret and his supporters are going to fix things.....even if it means burning people at the stake who refuse to fall in line. Join us and thrive, or whatever happens to you as a result of your own sinful stubborness is your problem. The clash between Earthseed and Christian America is inevitable. The consequences are tragic. I had a hard time putting this book down.

Really fun book! Way better than I thought it'd be. Light-hearted, thought-provoking, and hilarious. The perfect beach book.

Shakespeare himself is amazing. The book itself and what it represents (English 117B).. not so much... Actually, he is pretty much amazing. "we are such stuff / As dreams are made on;" - The Tempest

It took me a little while to get into this book but I ended up liking it. I had to get use to the "southern speech". It was very interesting to see the view of the slavery issue at the time it existed. I was also interested to see how much religion influenced the issues of the day. Don't see much of that in to today's politics and if you do it is seen as "uneducated"!! Also very interesting to see that even those who considered themselves abolutionists had their own kind of prejudice. All in all I enjoyed the book and see how in many ways we haven't progressed as far as we should. As my religion teaches and is shown in the book the love of Christ is what really changes hearts!

This book was so rich, that I could only read about 20 pages at a time. I just needed to savor it. It is both a policitcal and personal story, seeped in religion and an Indian magical realism. Did anyone who has finished this book wonder whether the main character was really Salman Rushdie? I thought he might view himself as the storyteller of the birth of India/Pakistan. And Rushdie, as the main charachter, has been persecuted of his work, as the end of the story is about being hunted.

George Saunders is like The Onion for the literati. He's hilarious, to be sure, but also capable of parsing the 9/11 reaction by the U.S. in a brilliant five-page allegory.
