Wow! That's what I kept thinking when I was reading this book - Wow! This is an interesting and very unique take on time travel, wizards and sorcerers, and the Excalibur and King Arthur story. Three teens are brought from three different time periods (the 1800s, the 2000s, and the 3000s) to the very distant future to find Excalibur and take it back to King Arthur before the timeline changes the future irrevocably. From Goodreads: "Josh, Digger and Meri were rudely ported out of their time and far into the future by the Wizard. King Arthur’s sword, Excalibur, is missing from its timeline. Without the sword in its proper place in history, everything from that point forward could change. Josh and his new found friends must find a way to return the sword to Arthur that won’t upset the timeline." This book is so fresh and original! I literally could not stand putting the book down, because I had to find out what was going to happen next. I have always loved anything having to do with the King Arthur story, but it's really hard to find a new twist or a new way of approaching the story that hasn't been done before. When Sue described the book as time travel and King Arthur, and asked for reviewers, I didn't have to read any further - I volunteered right away! I was a little bit worried, though, that it would be the same ol', same ol', and I would have to review it as such, no matter how much I liked it. I am so, so happy that I can say it is a totally new approach to a beloved story! It really isn't about the King Arthur story, per se, but about three teens who are thrust into it, who have to find a way to return Excalibur to King Arthur without ruining the mystique surrounding it. It's about three teens who, without any time for advanced training, have to discover their talents for themselves, while on a quest. It's a story that you will enjoy, if you love a good fantasy! And the best part is that it is only the first in what is looking to be an awesome new series, which I am very, very happy about!! The only bad part is that I have to wait for the next book to come out, which hopefully will not be too long from now :D In summary, I loved this book, and I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a new YA fantasy series to read. 5 stars!

I know Vanity Fair is considered a classic in literature, but it is the only book that's ever failed my first hundred page test. Many books start out slow, but after the first hundred pages, I'm involved with the characters and/or subject matter; I always want to know what happens--with one exception, Vanity Fair. After the first hundred pages of Vanity Fair, I didn't care one whit about any of the characters and cared even less about the story. Last year, I probably read an average of 2 -3 books a month (a lot of it it non-fiction, technical material, slow go stuff, which is why I didn't read more). Vanity Fair is the only book I have ever put aside with no intention of picking it up again.

I made it through this book, but I didn't enjoy it. I couldn't understand anything the father was saying because of the way his accent was written. And, the story just seemed to go in circles. Boring.

** spoiler alert ** Okay, it was hard to give this particular addition to the series a five only because it does not resolve the problem, it only postpones the inevitable rematch. I liked the story, but the overall, the events in this book covered approximately 3 days in Zoey's life, and a lot of questions still exist, and a few more have been added. I think I agree with Zoey when she made the comment about being 17 - everyone sure expects a lot out of her and she is so young and inexperienced. I do like the development of Zoey - she is still confused, struggling to make the right choices, and is growing slowly through the problems she faces. The fact that she makes mistakes, and willingly admits she makes them, make her more likable. The other consideration about Zoey is that she is willing and ready to learn from her mistakes. She does not plan on making the same mistake twice. It will be interesting to see where the next books takes us, and what problems Zoey will be facing - will they be old or new problems, and exactly what or who is she being tempted by. And just what will happen between her, Erik, Heath, and Stark - not to mention that dark evil shadow that is still looming in the wings.

Olivia is a very active, precocious little pig. She loves the ballet, loves the museum, and builds the best sand castles. She's not perfect; she tried to paint a Pollock-like image on the wall and ends up in time-out. And oh, yes, she doesn't want to take a nap. This is a delightful read aloud for little ones, and older ones will love to read it on their own!
