Terribly entertaining though at times a little painful. The comedy aspect is definately black, which I appreciate but it might not be for everyone. At this point, I don't even really care how much of it was true. Well written, enjoyable, perfect for being stuck in the airport. The film adaptation is also really well done and captures the lush psychosis of the novel.

Harry Potter, Ron, Hermoine, Ginny, and everyone are growing up!! This is evident with all the hormones-inducted relationship issues/puppy love/friendships, especially emotions! Was shockened and saddened near at the end of the book. I didn't expect for it to happen. I can't say more for I'll spoil it for y'all who either haven't read the book, or are planning on watching the 6th movie... Anyway, I'd say I was DUMfounded. A sentence I loved, "Greatness inspires envy, envy engenders spite, spite spawns lies." - page 443. As always, am EMPHASIZING that books WHOOMP movies big time. If u gotta read sumthin, read this for a quick paced, adventure-filled, visual world and the comfortable world of Harry Potter.

This is a really quite fascinating study of those enclaves of "hip" that tend to appear in urban areas, and whose activities I disavow (occasionally with contempt), in part because I know that I'll always be like the writer of this book: an outsider whose status within that world is practically nonexistent. Although I'd like to write more about this book here, I don't want to put in the effort, so I'll just keep it short. My only real complaint is that it could have been longer. There are sections (especially toward the beginning--the ones on the developments of modernism and bohemia in particular) that could have been expanded without hurting the overall flow of the book. Not that the current thing is lacking in detail--far from it. I just found myself wanting to learn more about these two topics because they were so interesting. But, I suppose that that is what a bibliography is for.

There was quite a bit of buzz surrounding the release of Jenna and Jonah's Fauxmance around the book blog-o-sphere and I was definitely one of the readers who was pretty excited for it to come out. I had originally put my name on the waiting list at my library, but after I saw Alice's (The Reader Room) In My Mailbox post about it, I just had to have it that second. Luckily my impulse buy turned out to be money well spent. Charlie (Jenna), a sassy and headstrong television star, is required to have a fake romance with her laid back costar Fielding (Jonah). At first I found Charlie to be a little high maintenance and uptight, but as the story progressed she started to loosen up and learn to let go. She grew tremendously strong as a person and learned a lot about herself. Fielding was the complete opposite of the goal obsessed Charlie. He wasn't in acting for the long run and just wanted to be like a normal college kid. Fielding was definitely my favorite character! I loved having the opportunity to get into both of the characters' heads. Franklin and Halpin did a wonderful job at Charlie and Fielding's voice. They both seemed real and Fielding's voice definitely reflected at what I thought would be inside of a teenage guy's head. I really enjoyed how Charlie adopted some of Fielding's mellow attitude and how Fielding got Charlie's drive for the future. Each of them had admirable qualities, but just in overdrive. So when they were around each other they learned to pull back on their seriousness or indifference and gain the others good qualities as well as modify their own. Jenna and Jonah's Fauxmance revolved greatly around the relationship between Fielding and Charlie, which wasn't a bad thing. They both had annoying and pushy managers who just wanted them to make as much money as possible, which is exactly what I have in mind when I think of Hollywood star's manager. As the story moves forward Fielding and Charlie find themselves in a unique setting where they meet some very fun people. I don't want to say too much about the supporting characters because it'll give a good chunk of the story away. I kind of knew how the book was going to end, but how the characters got there was pretty authentic. I really enjoyed how everything turned out and that acting played a part. It was very sweet and had me thinking "Aw how cute!" Awesome Quote: "But in real life, you don't know how it's going to work out. You don't know how the other person so going to respond, and you don't know if you're going to say the wrong thing and ruin everything, and sometimes you don't even really know what the hell you want." (Fielding) Characters: 4/5 Creativity: 5/5 Voice: 4/5 Plot: 4/5 Impact: 3/5 Overall: 4/5 Jenna and Jonah's Fauxmance is a laugh out loud, light-hearted read that I finished rather quickly. If you're looking for an original teen romance book this is definitely the book for you. This book left me with a happy heart and wanting to get my very own GPS with Mr. T's voice!

A solid debut novel from one of my favorite writers in any medium. A well-crafted mystery that moves dizzyingly fast and satisfies my taste for a good crime book and a little gaze into the lives of those more fucked-up than me. This was the first novel I read after I finished my first year of grad school and I devoured it.
