Definitely a page turner. You could feel the thrill, the suspense and the intense emotions running through the book. Once you read it, you can't stop until you finish the whole series. But the ending somewhat left me hanging which is good in a way since we could make up our own endings to the series.

I am a Sheila Butt fan. She is honest about herself and relates well to others. That's the main reason I like this book.

I flew threw this. I suspect it appeals most to a very particular audience (NYers, just into their 30s, etc). though these characters' NY experience isn't at all like my own, their internal struggles--the what am I doing with myself kind of questions--as well as the complex interplay between friends, particularly how that changes as we get older, that is completely relateable.

I need to read this again - it's been awhile. I loved the analogy of Christ's atonement.

I seem to keep returning to the War of the Roses, Richard III, Edward VI, and this is one more book that takes place in that time period. I liked the idea of story, from the veiwpoint of the silkwomen and their story, combining many historical figures with a few fictional characters. Ddin't really buy the idea that Isabel was Richard's loevr, but that was OK; it's fiction. I liked this one better than Portrait of an Unknown Woman.

One of the most satisfying books I've read in a long time. An engaging read!

This is a well-crafted series, with a likeable main character and an author with an eye for detail.

Levine conveys a strong sense of time and place in this moving story about the friendship between white, 13-year-old Dit, and Emma, the black daughter of the new postmaster, in 1917 in Moundville, Alabama.

This is in the genre of "horrible things happens to a family and we witness the carnage that's still going on years later." Well written and sometimes heart-wrenching (but in a good way!). Not a much read, but enjoyable easy summer beach reading.
