Surprizeingly good. The fact that the hero is addicted to morphine is well writen and very belivable. The heroine is smart and learns from her mistakes. Also she acts like a 18 year old.

Full review here: I'm A Book Shark Blog This novel took at least 150 pages for me to really get sucked in. I read it quickly after that, but it did take a while. I'm certainly glad I read it, and I can't wait until the sequel, but it was a bit of a rough road. I felt like parts of this book were pieced together in a weird way. This book didn't flow right to me. Even from paragraph to paragraph, not just chapter to chapter. And the word 'but' was in just about every chapter. I was getting really tired of it. Plus, I felt like the rules changed along the lines of the story, Charlie's sister specifically. Some of the surprises along the way shocked me while some where predictable. Overall though I enjoyed this novel. It's a quick read once the excitement starts going down. It's hard not to compare this to Derting's lighter YA series, The Body Finder. When I do compare, I find that I like TBF series better, but I have hopes for this series as well. It's nice to see a different side of Derting. Her characters are always likable and redeemable. I know a lot of people have been entertained by this book, so I hope everyone who hasn't read it yet also loves it.

The title tells you how the novel will be organized--alternating, parallel chapters that ultimately converge and reveal a single storyline. Can't go wrong with unicorns, kappas, and amazing feats of mental data-crunching. I admit, though, that the ending left me a little melancholy.

Wow -- this is a fantastic memoir/coming of age novel that artfully weaves Blechdel's childhood and lesbian awakening with her father's own complicated adulthood. Funny and literary and clever. I especially love the way she uses her childhood diary entries and captures some of the weirdnesses of puberty -- it's just really good and you should read it (all of you!).

Really really intriguing book. Very glad I read it. It was one of those intelligent books that makes you think and ponder on shit. My only complaint is that maybe the ending was a little too open-ended. But then I always complain about stuff like that. I just love to know everything that happens to the characters in the end, lolol.

I'm not quite sure really whether I like this book or not... It has its good points of course: the writing style is quick and fast-paced and for me it introduced a new way of looking at everybody's heaven (reminds me of the movie What Dreams May Come) and I like the characters - they may not be given equal exposure but they're scenes still made an impact in their own way. Aside from that I felt that the story lacked a resolution of sorts but I guess the author wanted (the reader) to just read between the lines and make their own conclusions. I like the book title's analogy though if that's any consolation =)
