While I didn't think this was as strong a book as Doomsday Book or To Say Nothing of the Dog (which were each fantastic in their own way), it was thoroughly entertaining and successful with its narrower scope. It's NOT science fiction, unless you define science fiction as being fiction about scientists doing research. It's got Willis' usual brisk style and humor, and it's made even funnier by reading it 10 or 15 years after publication, since a lot of the research mentioned is about fads. The recurring restaurant scenes had me howling. This is one I'll definitely reread when I need a good laugh.

Signed and Sealed was about a 20 something Gay man named Will who was roped into trying to help his conniving sister, after she had failed to fulfill a prenup to the brother of a wealthy Montana rancher named Elijah Hunter. Will’s sister Katrina implicated him in a gold digging scheme she had concocted then wanted out of when she found out that the younger brother of Elijah was not as rich as she had once suspected. Elijah makes a deal with Katrina, if she can get Will to come stay in her place for a month, he will allow her to leave the ranch to come up with the funds she needed to buy out of the prenup. Katrina manipulates Will to come and help her, when he shows up he had no plans on staying more than a day or two to help out his sister, but William soon find out later that he will be staying longer than that or risk losing the home his parents had left him in their will. The author B.A. Stretke gave us a heartwarming story about first impressions and trust, and how when you ruin trust it can be difficult to get back. The story was good but a bit confusing at times, most of the book was written from Will’s perspective but would occasionally jump to different characters without any warning sometimes making you reread to find out who it was coming from.

3.5 stars. Really interesting setting and subject matter. The writing was good too. I think I'm rating it lower because the characters were all pretty despicable and the selfish choices that led to the ending left me uninspired and bugged.
